니사의 그레고리우스의 신비사상과 부정신학

국문 초록

인간 영혼이 이해할 수 없는 하느님과의 합일을 이야기하는 것은 부정신학적 관점에서 바라본 그리스도교 신비사상이다. 많은 사람들이 이 방법을 완성하고 후대에 많은 영향을 준 인물로 위(僞)디오니시우스를 이야기한다. 하지만 그리스도교 신비사상에서 부정신학적 방법을 언급하기 시작한 것은 훨씬 전의 일이다. 사실 부정신학적 방법론은 새로운 플라톤 사상과 성경의 가르침과 밀접한 관계가 있다. 중기 플라톤 사상에서는 이데아계를 초월하는 차원에 존재하는 ‘일자’를 이야기하였다. 이 일자는 물질계에 속한 인간이 바로 파악할 수 있는 존재가 아니다. 유다인인 알렉산드리아의 필론은 이 사상과 창조주 하느님의 개념을 조화시킨다. 즉, 피조물 인간 영혼이 창조주 하느님을 쉽게 인식할 수 없다 하더라도 하느님께서 당신을 우리에게 계시하시므로, 우리는 하느님께 나아가는 기쁨을 누릴 수 있는 것이다. 그리스도교 안에서 부정신학적 방법론을 사용하여 신비사상을 언급한 시초는 니사의 그레고리우스라고 말할 수 있다. 그가 살던 당시는 신플라톤 사상이 교회에 많은 영향을 끼쳐서 삼위일체 신학 논쟁이 있었던 시기였다. 아무리 많은 사람들이 다양한 관점으로 논쟁을 한다고 하더라도 하느님은 명확하게 파악되고 정의내릴 수 없다는 것을 경험한 니사의 그레고리우스는 성경의 표상과 함께 모세의 생애를 묵상하면서 어둠 속에서 알 수 없는 창조주 하느님과의 만남의 여정을 이야기하였다. 최소한 하느님의 존재는 인식할 수 있는 인간 영혼이 하느님의 진리의 빛으로 정화되기 시작하여 하느님을 만나고자 하는 열렬한 사랑의 마음을 불태운다면, 결국 하느님의 은총으로 어둠 속에서 하느님을 뵐 수 있다는 것이다. 만약 니사의 그레고리우스의 사상이 서방교회에 일찍 알려질 기회가 있었다면, 그 역시 많은 영향을 주었을 것이다. 아마도 니사의 그레고리우스의 부정신학적 관점의 신비사상이 위(僞)디오니시우스에게도 영향을 끼쳤을 것이다.

영문 초록

In the view point of the Apophatic Theology, the Christian Mysticism mentions that a human soul unites with incomprehensible God. Many people consider that Pseudo-Dionysius was the first scholar who accomplished an Apophatic Theological Mysticism and influenced the other successive scholars in the western church. However, the apophatic theology has already influenced on mysticism before Pseudo-Dionysius. In fact, the apophatic theological mysticism is closely related with the new platonism and the teachings of the Bible. In the middle platonism, some philosophers researched the One in the transcendent level which was higher than the world of ideas. It was impossible for a human soul to recognize the One directly. Philo of Alexandria harmonized the middle platonism with a concept of the Creator, God. Although a human soul could not completely comprehend the essence of God, a human being could feel happiness proceeding toward God through the grace of a revelation of God. In the christian church, Gregory of Nyssa was considered as the first scholar who began to explain the mysticism after the apophatic theological method. In his period, there were many arguments about Trinitarian Theology because the neoplatonism influenced the church strongly. Even though many scholars disputed on the essence of God from a different viewpoint, they did not clearly understand God, neither did they define His essence. Meditating the life of Moses and the sign of the Bible, Gregory of Nyssa who had experienced those arguments, emphasized the itinerary to meet incomprehensible Creator, God in the darkness. A human being who at least recognized an existence of God, could be purified from all sins by a light of the truth. And a human soul will be faced with God under the darkness by His grace, if he loves God passionately. If the western church recognized Gregory of Nyssa earlier, many scholars would follow him. And Gregory of Nyssa probably influenced Pseudo-Dionysius his apophatic theological mysticism.
