나딩스의 배려 관계와 가다머의 해석적 관계의 비교가 도덕교육에 주는 시사점

국문 초록

본 연구는 도덕교육이 ‘관계성’에 대한 이해를 근본적으로 포함해야 한다는 입장에서, 나딩스의 ‘배려 관계’와 가다머의 ‘해석적 관계’에 주목한다. 배려 관계와 해석적 관계의 주요 유사성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 양자는 상호 인격적 관계이다. 둘째, 의사소통에 임하는 개방적 자세가 중시된다. 셋째, 지속성과 확장성을 가지며, 그 안에서 발생하는 고통은 부정적이지 않다. 이를 바탕으로 도덕교육의 실천방안을 다음과 같이 제안할 수 있다. 배려자이면서 해석자인 교사는 학생들에 대한 장기적인 기대를 가져야 한다. 또한 교사는 학생들의 목소리를 경청하고 그들의 질문에 주목하는 자세를 지녀야 한다. 타인에 대한 이해가 교육과정상의 주제로 더욱 강조되어야 한다. 끝으로, 학생들 간에 수용적이고 일상적인 대화가 장려되어야 한다.

영문 초록

This study argues that the understanding of 'relationship' is fundamental in moral education. To gain insight into moral education, this study attempts to identify the similarities between Noddings’ caring relation and Gadamer’s hermeneutical relation. First, Noddings and Gadamer characterize a relationship as mutual and respectable. Second, in both perspectives of relationship, a person needs to be open to communicate with others. Third, they highlight the continuity and expansion of relationship. Finally, Noddings and Gadamer maintain that one's psychological pain or burden produced from relationship are not necessarily negative. Based on theses similarities between caring relation and hermeneutical relation, this study suggests implications in promoting moral education, which implies the understanding of 'relationship'. First, teachers need to build their long-term expectations toward students. Second, teachers need to enthusiastically listen to students, and take an active interest in their questions. Third, 'understanding others' should be emphasized in curriculum. Lastly, receptive and ordinary conversations should be encouraged in classrooms.
