혼인성사에 대한 재고찰 : 제2차 바티칸 공의회 이후 근본적인 변화가 있는가

국문 초록

본 논문은 2014년 10월 5일부터 19일까지 개최되었던 제3차 임시 세계주교대의원 회의에서 다뤄진 ‘복음 선교의 관점에서 본 가정의 사목적 도전’을 소개하고 또 이 회의의 최종 보고서에서 제시하는 문제들 중에서 특별히 중혼자들의 영성체의 문제를 신학적으로 다루었다. 이는 회의의 폐막 연설에서 교황 프란치스코가 전 세계의 신학자들에게 현대세계를 사는 가정의 어려운 문제들을 보다 복음적으로 해결해 나가기 위해 선학자들에게 요청한 것에 대한 노력의 일환이다. 본 논문에서는 우선 아우구스티누스의 성에 대한 부정적 이해와 중세 이후에 교회법적인 카테고리 안에서 발전한 혼인 불가해소성의 배경을 비판적으로 살펴보고, 현대의 결혼성사가 강조하는 서약의 개념이 창세기 이후 성서가 제시하는 인격적이며 관계적 인간관에 입각하고 있다는 사실을 확인하면서 예수가 제시하신 혼인 불가해소성의 가르침도 바로 이러한 인격적 관계성에 입각한 가르침이라는 것을 확인하였다. 그리고 이렇게 새롭게 조명된 복음에 대한 이해는, 중혼자들도 계속 용서와 화해를 통해 하느님의 자비에 초대받고 있는 이들이며 따라서 교회는 그들의 공동체 내의 영성체 가능성도 더 유연하게 대처할 수 있다는 비전을 제시하고자 했다.

영문 초록

This article aims first to introduce the contents of the Third Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, held in Vatican City on 5-19 October 2014 on the topic of Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization. This synod was a gathering in preparation for a regular synod with the same theme in October 2015. The participants, not only bishops but also some lay people, actively discussed problems facing the family today, including sexual orientation, cohabitation, the breakdown of marriage, and divorce and remarriage and their possibility of communion, etc. The synod was characterized by the fact that all the participants, including lay married faithful, could express their opinions with a spirit of freedom. It was possible because Pope Francis allowed the method of discernment with the Holy Spirit. In some sensitive issues of sexual orientation, cohabitation, and divorce and remarriage and their possibility of communion, however, the synod bishops revealed the theological disagreements. Receiving the results, Pope Francis asked the theologians in the world to deepen the theological insights that might help to resolve the problems what the modern society’s marital phenomena confront. In the later part of this article, the author tries to respond to the Pope’s request. This article specially focuses on the matter of indissolubility. This article argues that there has been an unresolved tension between the ‘law-based’ old Scholastic thinking and the contemporary Roman Catholic Church’s ‘person and relationship-centered’ thinking on sex, marriage, and family. This article argues that the contemporary Church, as the bride of Christ, can more correctly grasp the theological meaning of indissolubility when she tries to recover the biblical meaning of ‘sex’ and ‘relationship.’ ‘Sex’ should be regarded as a special gift from God to deepen this relationality. This new understanding demands that we are to overcome some negative impressions given to the Western Christian tradition after Augustine. By understanding sex as a sacramental tool to experience God’s grace, the Christian theology of marriage may more correctly approach the Gospel insight of indissolubility, because Jesus’ message of marriage or his message of indissolubility are not based on law itself but on God’s divine mercy, which invites all human beings to relate, forgive, and to reconcile. Sex, as a symbol of God’s grace, is in the center of all these human beings’ participation to the creative saving activity of God.
