로욜라의 성 이냐시오 리더십 : 예수회 회헌을 중심으로

국문 초록

본고의 목적은 로욜라의 성 이냐시오의 『예수회 회헌』에 나타난 예수회 총장의 자질을 해석하여 이냐시오 리더십(Ignatian leadership)을 탐구하는 것이다. 성 이냐시오는 예수회의 창립자였고 첫 번째 총장이었으며 회헌의 저자였다. 따라서 회헌의 9부 2장에 나와 있는 예수회 총장의 자질은 이냐시오 자신의 모습이고 삶의 양식이었다고 여겨져 왔다. 특별히 공의회 이후 예수회에서는 창립자인 이냐시오의 카리스마로 돌아가서 자신의 정체성을 성찰하고 시대의 징표를 읽어내어 사명과 사도직을 살아가고자하는 연구가 활발히 진행되었다. 본고의 연구에 있어서 적용할 해석학적 방법론은 과거의 영적 유산인 회헌을 어떻게 오늘날의 변화하는 시대 상황에서 살아갈 수 있는가라는 문제 제기에 대해 응답하기 위한 가장 적절한 방법론이다. 따라서 다음의 세 단계로 구분할 수 있을 것이다. 첫째, 예수회 총장의 자질에서 드러난 이냐시오의 리더십을 기술한 회헌을 숙고한다. 둘째, 회헌에 대한 비평적 분석을 통하여 이냐시오 자신의 리더십과 이냐시오의 리더십을 해석한 초기동료들의 문헌을 비교하고 재검토함으로써 이냐시오의 리더십을 이해하는 창조적 충실성이라는 성격의 해석적 탐구를 시도한다. 셋째, 오늘날의 이냐시오 리더섭을 살아가고자 하는 이들에게 창조적 충실성을 지니고 끊임없이 식별하는 삶을 제언한다. 결론적으로 본고는 이냐시오의 『예수회 회헌』에 나타난 예수회 총장의 자질에서 드러난 이냐시오 리더십의 핵심에는 식별을 통해서 하느님의 현존과 활동에 관한 신뢰 그리고 공동체 구성원들의 마음의 일치가 놓여 있음을 제안한다.

영문 초록

This research on the idea of Ignatian leadership develops with the understanding of the Superior General of the Society in the Constitutions. The methodology begins with a hermeneutical question: How can one bring the lgnatian texts, as classics of spirituality, into the present, discovering their authentic meaning for today? How can the lgnatian texts be newly and freshly experienced? This study adapts a hermeneutic of creative fidelity. According to Peter-Hans Kolvenbach, fidelity in mission means union with God and the Church and creativity means attention to the Holy Spirit recognized in the signs of the times in mission. The procedure of this study has two parts. On the one hand, by comparing, contrasting and synthesizing the qualities of the candidate, the novice, and the scholastics in Part I, III, and IV and those of the Superior General in Part IX, this article revisits the Superior General as a role model for lgnatian leadership. On the other hand, this study reflects on how Ignatius's companions developed their own lgnatian leadership for the service of the Church. By distancing between the Constitutions and Ignatius and his companions, this research will be helpful, for those who are following lgnatiu's example, to understand and live his way of life. This article will draw out of the qualities of the Superior General a number of implications and perspectives. Blessed with an awareness of God's presence and working all over the world, especially in discernment, those who are following Ignatius's example find themselves invited to trust in God and seek the union of minds and hearts among their community members.
