기독교대학의 해외단기봉사활동과 선교교육 성찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학이 해외봉사활동 프로그램(Overseas Volunteer Service Program)을 국제봉사학습(International Service-Learning) 교과과정의 하나로 도입하여 어떻게 체계적으로 운영할 수 있을지 삼육대학교의 사례를 통해 고찰한다. 기독교대학의 봉사학습 프로그램 강화는 기독교대학의 정체성과 선교지향적 특성을 강화시키는 것으로서 선행연구를 통해 우리나라봉사학습 교육과정의 발전역사, 봉사활동이 봉사자에게 미치는 긍정적인 영향, 봉사학습에 대한 이론적 고찰, 그리고 해외봉사활동 운영과정등을 기술한다. 대학의 ISL 프로그램 운영시스템은 크게 학교, 봉사관련 부서(사회봉사단), 봉사활동 지도교수, 봉사활동 참여 학생 등 교육 주체들이 어떻게 역할분담과 협력을 통해 조직적으로 운영되어야 하는지 삼육대학의 ISL 운영시스템을 제시한다. 또한 봉사를 통해 봉사자와 수혜자 모두에게 유익한 결과를 담보해줄 필수요소인 봉사팀 사전준비는 어떤절차와 내용을 거쳐야 하는지 12단계 과정을 소개한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to investigate how to operate and effectively educate students with Overseas Volunteer Service Project as a International Service-Learning course(ISl). The following topics were investigated as part of the background study: a) The spirit of volunteer services and the definition of service-learning, b) the positive educational benefits and impacts of volunteer service on the person volunteering, c)the current operation of service-learning courses in Korean universities, and d) the educational advantage of overseas volunteer service project. The investigation showed that for an overseas volunteer service project as part of a university general education course to be successful, the project should be operated harmoniously with each member of the project−university leadership, volunteer service department, professor, student−fulfilling their roles collaboratively. The keys to success of the volunteer service project are the following: a) clear presentation of school’s educational philosophy and vision regarding volunteer service project, b) professors’ attentive preparation and leadership, c) training of the volunteer participants prior to the volunteer service, and d) professional support of university department such as Volunteers Service Center.
