국문 초록

본 논문은 사상 최악의 경제학의 위기 상황을 맞아서 1970 80년대에 한국 경제학의 역사상 처음으로 벌어졌지만, 오랫동안 잊혀진 ‘한국(적) 경제학 논 쟁’을 연구한 논문이다. 이 논문은 주로 당시의 주요 문헌을 바탕으로 논쟁의 사회역사적 배경, 논쟁의 주요 내용, 논쟁의 소멸 과정을 처음으로 체계적으로 밝혔다. 이를 통해 밝혀진 주요 사실은 이 논쟁이 당시 학계 내부만 이 아니라, 경제계, 언론계, 정치권력도 비판적으로 관여하였으며, 한국의 주 류인 미국 ․ 서구 우파 경제학의 보편타당성 인정 여부를 둘러싸고 공방을 벌였다는 것, 논쟁 과정에서 입장의 큰 차이에도 불구하고, 상호 합의한 한국 경제학의 방법론이 있다는 것, 이 논쟁은 그 절정기에 우파 ․ 좌파간의 새로운 ‘한국자본주의 사회구성체 논쟁’으로 인해 소멸되었다는 것 등이다. 이에 기초하여 본 논문은 한국경제학 논쟁과정에서 제기된 초보적이면서도 근본 적인 주제들에 대한 논쟁의 성과를 계승 ․ 발전하지 못한 것이 오늘날 미국 ․ 서구보다 더 심각한 한국경제학의 위기, 한국경제학 교수의 위기를 자초하고, 현실경제 위기를 타개하지 못하는 원인이라는 가설을 제기한다.

영문 초록

This paper focuses on the long forgotten controversy of Korean economics which first took place in the history of Korean economics, faced with the worst period of Korean economics ever. This paper primarily and systematically shows the socio historical background, and main contents of the controversy and it’s process of extintion, based on the examination of the chief references at that time. The findings of the study indicate that the dispute was not limited within the economics circle, the economic world, the press and even the political arena were involved in it; whether to accept the universalism of West or universal validity of the Right wing economics was deeply disputed; despite the great difference between the two sides, valid methodology of Korean economics could be agreed mutually; this dispute then died out at its peak due to the new issue over “the socio historical character of Korean capitalism” by both groups of the western right and left wings. This paper proposes a hyphothesis on these facts that a failure to develop the results of the dispute over the fundamental topics posed by the process of Korean economics controversy leads to the crisis of professors of Korean economics and Korea economy, which can be thought to be more serious than that of the West and America.
