무질서 인식이 청소년들의 부정적 감정 및 지위비행에 미치는 영향 검증

국문 초록

최근 청소년 비행연구에서 거시와 미시수준의 변인을 동시에 고려한 연구들이 시도되고 있다. 이 연구에서는 무질서 인식이 청소년의 불안 및 우울이라는 부정적 감정 그리고 지위비행에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 한다. 이 연구의 목적달성을 위해 청소년패널조사(KYPS) 4차와 5차 자료에서 2265명의 개인수준 설문자료를 추출하고 거주 지역에 기초하여 다시금 85개 시군구의 2005년 인구센서스 자료와 병합하여 HLM 6.02를 사용하여 HLM, HGLM 분석을 실시하였다. 청소년의 불안 및 우울을 예측하기 위한 HLM과 청소년비행여부를 묻는 HGLM분석을 실시하였으나 거의 대부분의 거시변인들이 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 아마도 시, 군, 구 단위의 광범위한 지역수준 자료의 사용으로 명확한 영향파악이 어려웠던 것으로 보인다. 이에 추가적으로 거시와 미시를 구분하지 않고 지역수준의 주요변인들 중 무질서(학교무질서 인식, 지역무질서 인식)와 집합적 효율성(사회유대와 비공식적 사회통제)을 고려한 회귀분석 및 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시한 결과 지역사회의 무질서 인식과 학교 무질서 인식이 청소년의 불안및 우울에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 집합적 효율성 역시 청소년들의 불안 및 우울감을 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 청소년의 지위비행을 예측하기 위한 로지스틱 회귀분석 결과에서는 분석모델에서 불안 및 우울감은 모든 종류의지위비행에 영향을 미쳤고 무질서 중에서는 학교 무질서가 흡연, 음주, 무단결석과 같은 지위비행을 증가시키는 변인으로 나타났다. 즉 학교 무질서에 대한 인식이 부정적일 경우, 청소년들이 지위비행에 가담할 가능성이 높기 때문에 학교주변의 물리적, 사회적 무질서를 개선하고자 하는 노력이 청소년 지위비행의 억제 및 예방을 위해 중요해 보인다. 또한, 청소년들의 불안 및 우울감이 지위비행을 유의미하게 증가시키기 때문에 청소년들의 불안 및 우울감에 대한 학교 차원의 상담프로그램 도입 및 활성화 방안이 강구되어야 할 필요성이 있어 보인다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine practically how community disorder effects juvenile delinquency, the anxiety and depression. Until recently Criminology literature in Korea has not made an attempt to examine the correlations of macro-level factors, such as neighborhood characteristics, and micro-level factors, such as the experience of anxiety and depression to juvenile delinquency. Therefore, this study will take a look at the impacts of both macro-level factors and micro-level factors on juvenile delinquency and the experience of anxiety and depression. This study presents not only community's structural and functional characteristics and community disorder as macro-level factors but also the experience of juvenile delinquency, anxiety and depression as micro-level factors. Structural characteristics were measured by poverty rate, mobility rate, and divorce rate from official statistics. Functional characteristics were measured by social bond and informal social control from the data of KYPS(Korea Youth Panel Study). The micro-level factors were measured by the KYPS data which shows whether juvenile had ever experienced any status delinquency and anxiety and depression. The data based on the KYPS was gathered from 85 regions, 2265 juveniles to examine effects of the macro-level factors on micro-level factors. This study used HLM 6.02 as on of the analysis tools. HLM analysis results show that none of the macro-level factors had effect on anxiety and depression. HGLM analysis is executed to examine the effects of macro-level factors, anxiety and depression on status delinquency. HGLM analysis results show that anxiety and depression had an significant effects on juvenile delinquency. These results stem from the facts that the sample were measured broadly, so it was difficult to verify the hypothesis on this study. For this reason, extra analysis such as regression and logistic regression analysis were executed. Regression analysis results revealed that structural characteristics had no effect on functional characteristics and the divorce rate were significant factor to community disorder. In addition, informal social control was the factor which reduces school disorder. Moreover, results from logistic regression analysis show that in every model, both the school disorder and the anxiety and depression were significant predictors of juvenile delinquency. These results are supportive to the hypothesis of this study. The implication of this study, regarding reduction of juvenile delinquency are that it is necessary many schools to try to prevent and manage the anxiety and depression for juveniles. Secondly, It is important to rectify the physical and social disorder around schools.
