국문 초록

체제전환 이후 루마니아 영화에 있어서의 다큐멘터리는 국민들과 영화계의 주요한 관심사로 등장하게 되었다. 체제전환 전후의 소재를 기반으로 한 영화 제작의 흐름은 리얼리즘을 통해 많은 사람들의 호응을 불러일으켰고, 이후 이러한 기조는 동시대를 살아가는 젊은 감독들이 리얼리즘을 바탕으로 한 영화 제작에 보다 큰 관심을 기울이는 계기가 되었다. 푸이우, 포룸보이우, 문지우 감독으로 이어지는 일련의 산출물은 국제 영화제에서 큰 반향과 호평을 불러일으켰다. 단순한 멜로 영상물이나 공상과학 또는 할리우드를 모방한 장르영화들을 접목시키는 것이 아니라, 루마니아에서 실제로 발생했던 역사적 사건이나 동시대를 살아가는 삶의 다양한 주제들을 기반으로 영화를 제작하였기에 루마니아 영화의 성공을 담보할 수 있었다. 최근 영화계의 화두처럼 지난 10여 년간 이루어진 루마니아영화의 경향은 크게‘작가주의적 영화 제작’과‘상업영화 제작’이라는 두 가지 방향으로 발전을 해오고 있다. 전자는‘루마니아의 새로운 물결’이라는 소용돌이를 몰고 온 젊은 감독들의 영화를 지칭하는 것으로 네오리얼리즘과 미니멀리즘 그리고 인상주의영화가 접목된 작가주의영화를 말하는데, 이것이 세계영화의 변방에 있었던 루마니아 영화를 일약 신흥 영화강국으로 만드는 계기가 되었다. 후자는 영화의 순수성과 예술지상주의 이면에 내재된 다양한 가능성을 실험하는 영화들을 일컫는다. 2000년대 중반부터 세계 영화계에 ‘흑해의 새로운 물결’을 일으키고 있는 루마니아 영화의 약진은 실로 놀라운 진행형 결과이다. 이 성공의 비결은 리얼리즘과 진실 추구, 다양한 스타일의 영화, 핸드 헬드 및 롱 테이크 촬영, 일상과 현실로부터 영감된 주제, 고풍과 스펙터클에 대한 거부라는 젊은 영화인들이 만들어낸 공통모에 기인하는 바이다.

영문 초록

After 1989 Revolution, the documentary film in Romanian cinema received a great interest from the cinema audiences and the film world. The tendency of film production based on the materials before and after transition roused many people’s response through the realism, and since then, this tendency makes young movie directors take a special interest in film production based on realism like a trend. The chains of film productions and their results like Puiu, Porumboiu, Mungiu etc. reverberated and were all successful in the international film festivals. Romanian cinema ensured its success, because these young film directors did not produce films around melodrama, science fiction or genre films which imitate Hollywood movies, but based on historical events in Romania or various subjects of contemporary life. Like recent topics of the film world, Romanian cinema for the last 10 years was developed under two directions such are the production of Auteurism films and commercial movies. The former is the Auteurism film grafted by neo-realism, minimalism, impressionist film etc. which refers to the young generation of film directors named the ‘New Wave’. Therefore, the Romanian cinema at border become, at a bound, a rising power nation in the film world. The latter is often called the experimental film which raises various inner possibilities behind pure nature of film and art for art’s sake. The rapid progress of Romanian cinema as a ‘New Wave on the Black Sea’ or ‘Romanian New Wave’ which raises sensational interest up in the global film from the mid 2000s, is an amazing progressive result and, at the same time, a hopeful progressive present as ever. We can find this success of Romanian cinema in the common denominators, made by young film directors, like a pursuit of truth and realism, themes inspired in the past and the present, hand-held and long-take shooting, realization on the Romanian own style, refusal of archaism and spectacular film and so on.
