국문 초록

본 논문은 마태복음 8장과 누가복음 7장에 나오는 Q의 백부장 이야기를 성서교수법의 관점에서 연구를 하고자 한다. 유대인의 복음서인 마태복음에서 이방인 백부장이 나서는 장면이 있다. 이를 통하여 유대 그리스도인들에게 이방인에 대한 관심을 불러일으키도록 한다. 곧 마태복음은 이방인이 그리스도를 믿게 되어 믿음을 가지고 스스로 예수께 나아갔다는 사실을 조명하고자 한다. 반면에 과부, 고아, 그리고 소외된 자들인 이방인들에게 관심을 가졌던 누가복음에서 이방인 백부장이 직접 나서지 않고 유대인 장로를 예수께 보내는 장면이 있다. 이를 통하여 이방인 그리스도인들에게 유대인에 대한 관심을 불러일으키도록 한다. 곧 누가복음에서 유대인이 그리스도를 믿게 되어 믿음을 가지고 이방인 백부장을 대신하여 예수께 나아갔다는 사실에 집중하고자 한다. 우리나라는 1953년 7월 27일에 UN이 휴전협정을 맺으면서 6.25 전쟁이 휴전되었다. 그로부터 61년의 세월이 지났다. 이로써 이념이 다른 남북한의 두 나라가 60여년을 따로 살았기에 혹시 통일을 하게 되더라도 엄청난 사회적, 경제적 문제를 발생시킬 것으로 예상된다. 남북통일 문제뿐만 아니라 남한 안에서도 지난 십년간 수많은 변화가 있었다. 우리나라는 급속도로 경제성장을 이루면서 국제 교류가 많아졌다. 자연스럽게 외국인들이 우리 이웃으로 함께 살아가고 있는 상황이다. 그 뿐이 아니다. 단일민족에 대한 자부심이 강했던 우리나라에서 국제결혼의 움직임이 많아졌다. 그로인해 다문화 가정도 많이 생기게 되었다. 이런 상황에서 어떻게 복음을 가지고 하나님을 알지 못하는 이들에게 성서교육을 할 것인지 하는 화두가 제기되었다. 남북한 상호간의 이질감과 다문화 가정 상호간의 이질감을 해소하기 위해서 본 논문은 백부장 이야기에 나타나는 인종 간에 상호교차 관심을 가져야 할 것을 가르치는 성서교수법적인 접근을 통해서 본문을 이해하고자 한다. 지금 우리나라 상황이 당시 이방인들과 유대인들이 섞여서 생활을 하는 그레코-로만 사회와 비슷한 부분이 있다고 간주하여 본 논문은 당시 사회에서 이방인들이 어떻게 유대인에게 관심을 기울였는지, 그리고 유대인들이 어떻게 이방인에게 관심을 기울였는지 연구하고자 한다. 따라서 본 논문은 단순히 선교적 메시지를 주는 차원에서 벗어나 백부장 이야기 안에서 나타나는 성서교수법이 무엇인지 연구하고 그것이 한국적인 상황에 적용가능 한 문제를 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위하여 서론에서는 성서교수법이 무엇인지 정의를 내려 성서교수법의 발전과 현대에 어떻게 적용되어왔는지 거론하고자 한다. 본론에서는 백부장 이야기의 시대적 배경인 그레코-로만 사회를 연구하여 백부장의 역할을 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 두 복음서 안에 기록된 백부장 이야기를 연구하여 그 안에서 얻을 수 있는 성서교수법의 내용을 찾아내서 오늘날 한국의 상황에 적용하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This paper investigates the centurion story in Q coming from Matthew chapter 8 and Luke chapter 7 with the view of a biblical Instruction method. The Gospel of Matthew is well known as the gospel for the Jews and in the centurion story, the gentile centurion is the one who is the active figure. From this, Jewish Christians obtained interest in the gentiles. Therefore we will illuminate the fact that the Gospel of Matthew reveals that the gentile got to believe in Jesus and with his faith solely, he went up to Jesus of his own accord. On the contrary, the Gospel of Luke, which is well known for its interest for those who were neglected from the society like widows and orphans, showed that the centurion who was a gentile actually sent the elders of the Jews to Jesus, asking him to come and heal his servant. From this we can see that the Gospel of Luke naturally makes the gentile christians to have interest towards the Jews. Therefore we will illuminate the fact that the Gospel of Luke reveals that the elders of the Jews obtained faith and went to Jesus instead of the centurion. The Korean War (25 June 1950 ~ 27 July 1953) was a war between North and South Korea. The fighting ended on 27 July 1953, when the armistice agreement was signed. 61 years have past after the war was over. Two countries have grown to be ideologically different. Even if reunification was going to happen there will be a severe social conflict and economic crisis. Not only is reunification an issue, there has been many changes in South Korea alone. South Korea has shown rapid economic growth and because of it there has been many international exchanges amongst countries. There is a natural influx of foreigners living as our neighbors in South Korea. Not only that, South Korea is known to be a homogeneous country but now there has been many international marriages newlywed. Because of it, many multicultural families have been born. In this situation, people that knew the gospel have been thinking how they were going to teach the bible to those who do not know God has become an issue. As we can see in the centurion story, there is a cross interest amongst the Jews and the Gentiles. With the centurion story, the bible can teach others to have cross-coupling interest towards the other party. If we understand this teaching method embedded in the centurion story, it will be possible to apply it to the current status of North and South Korea. There is already a huge gap between North and South Korea, economically or culturally. There is a huge gap between multicultural family members. Applying this teaching method to nations and families is possible because the bible context at the time of the centurion story is very similar to what we are facing right now. In those days of Greco-Roman world, Jews and gentiles lived together, and this already multi-cultural has many similar aspects to the current world we live in. In this research paper, I will try to figure out what kind of interest did the Jews have towards the gentiles, and the interest that the gentiles had for the Jews. Therefore in this thesis we will shift from our usual missional point of view in interpreting this story to see a biblical instruction method within the centurion story. With a biblical instructional method within the centurion story, we will try to apply it to the Korean context. In the beginning of the thesis, I will deal with the definition of a biblical instruction method. Moreover, we will see the Greco-Roman society and look through the role and social status of the Roman centurion. By taking a close look into the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, I will try to find a biblical instruction method within the centurion story and apply it to the Korean context.
