중증 장애 대학생 해외 연수 경험과 인식 분석 : QoLT 1~4차 연수를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 2011년부터 지식경제부(현 산업통상부)의 지원을 통해 QoLT 센터를 중심으로 진행된 4번의 중증 장애 대학생 해외 연수에 참여한 대학생들의 경험을 바탕으로 인식 변화 분석에 대한 내용분석법을 활용한 질적 분석을 진행하였다. 2011년부터 2012년까지 2년에 걸쳐서 총 4회의 연수가 실시되었으며, 본 연구자들은 모두 1회 이상의 연수 참여 연구원으로 함께 장애 대학생들과 연수를 진행, 주도하였다. 총 26명의 중증 장애 대학생이 참여하였으며, 방문지는 미국과 캐나다로 이들은 1차 서류심사와 2차 면접을 통하여 선발되었다. 연수 기간은 짧게는 7박 9일에서 길게는 9박 11일로 진행이 되었으며, 모든 일정에 인솔교수와 지원 스텝이 함께 하였다. 연구의 타당도를 높이기 위하여 삼각 검증법이 사용되었다. 분석 자료는 1~4차 보고서, 사업 계획서, 평가회 자료집, 홈페이지 자료, 학술 논문 등이 사용되었다. 연구 결과는 장애 유형별로 시각장애, 청각장애, 지체장애 학생들의 인식과 경험을 차례로 분석하였고, 추가적으로 4번의 연수에 모두 참여한 연구원의 인터뷰를 통해 해외 연수 프로그램이 어떻게 변화되고 발전되었는지 살펴보았다. 시각적 정보 접근의 제한, 영어와 통역에 대한 문제, 이동성과 접근성, 그리고 시간이 지나면서 연수가 더 발전되었다고 도출되었으며, 이들의 경험이 각 분야에서 장애인 리더로 성장할 수 있는 밑거름으로 되길 기대해본다.

영문 초록

This study sought to illuminate the unique experiences and perspective changes of college students with severe disabilities who had participated in a overseas training program. The overseas training programs were run by Quality of Life Technology, financially supported by the Korean government, and took place four times in 2011 and 2012. The researchers have coordinated and led the programs at least once. A total of 26 students with severe disabilities were chosen to participate in the program through a competitive selection process. Qualitative analyses on the written reports of the students were conducted by researchers, who have also participated in the program as coordinators. To enhance the validity of the analysis, triangulation was used. In addition to various related materials, the student report contents were analyzed according to the disability type (visual, hearing, physical impairment). Also, a coordinator who had participated in all four programs was interviewed in depth. Findings suggest that the participants have gained valuable insight about themselves as well as the differences in the facilities and social systems between Korea and other countries. Such results provide important implications for future training endeavors for college students with disabilities.
