영문 초록

Arabic grammar was formed in its origin by the influence of Islamic sciences like Islamic theology. In particular, Arabic grammar has developed basic principles such as ta'wi­l, 'illah, 'a­mil by taking rational methodology from Islamic theology. Among them, ta'wil is considered as a basic principle developed by the concept 'asl' and 'far' which Islamic theology suggested. al-Ta'wil indicates the process of reconstructing 'asl' from 'far''. From the linguistic point of view, 'asl' is an innate linguistic knowledge based on the rational hypothesis. On the other hand, 'far'' is the concept transformed from the 'asl'. In this respect, al-Ta'wil is classified into phonological, morphological, and syntactic rules. And these rules are conceptually similar to transformational rules in the generative transformational grammar. Finally, this paper aims at the modern approach to ta'wil through the comparative study between ta'wil and the generative transformational grammar. This study is also to verify the universal characteristics of Arabic grammar.
