국문 초록

본 연구에서는 항만 컨테이너 터미널의 야적장에 도착하는 컨테이너의 손실간격을 분석한다. 일반적으로 항만 컨테이너 터미널 야적장에 적재할 수 있는 컨테이너의 수가 유한하기 때문에, 이로 인해 발생하는 컨테이너의 손실간격을 분석함으로써 컨테이너 터미널의 최적설계와 효율적인 운영을 도모하는 것은 매우 중요한 문제이다. 본 연구에서 컨테이너의 도착은 포아송 도착과정을 가정하며, 컨테이너가 야적장에 적재되는 시간은 지수분포를 가정한다. 이를 위해 확률모형 기법을 활용하여 컨테이너의 손실간격 확률분포에 대한 명시적 라플라스 변환을 순환함수의 형태로 제시한다. 또한, 손실간격에 대한 기댓값 및 분산에 대해서 축차식으로 구할 수 있음을 보이고, 손실 간격의 기댓값을 통해 컨테이너 손실 확률에 대한 계산도 가능함을 보인다. 마지막으로 수치 실험을 통해 컨테이너 터미널 야적장의 용량과 손실간격의 관계를 추적한다. 본 연구의 결과는 컨테이너 터미널 야적장 설계에 시 고려해야할 주요 설계요소를 독자들에게 제시하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Container terminals consist of five main areas, which are the berth, quay, transport area, storage yard, and gate. In the loading process, containers are transported by container trucks and they are placed in the storage yard until they are ready to be loaded to container ships. To improve operational and managerial efficiency of container control, the limited number of containers are usually placed in the storage yard. Due to the capacity of the storage yard, it is sometimes likely to happen that a newly arriving container cannot be placed in the storage yard, which leads to costs incurred to both the container owners and the container terminal administrators. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the inter-loss time of containers under uncertainty. We assume that containers arrive at the container terminals according to a Poisson process and the sojourn time of a container which will be placed in the storage yard is exponentially distributed. When there is no space to place a newly arriving container in the storage yard, it cannot enter the container terminals and get lost. This paper shows that the Laplace transform of the inter-loss time of containers can be expressed as the recursion relation form. From this, important performance measures of interest, such as the mean and the variance of the inter-loss time, and the loss probability are obtained. The results in this paper would be useful to enhance the performance of container terminals and to design their optimal operation control.
