기계경비시스템 이용이 소규모 상점주의 범죄피해 및 범죄두려움에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 치안수요의 증대로 인하여 기계경비시스템을 이용하는 상점이 많은 현실에서 과연 이러한 기계경비시스템을 이용하는 것이 범죄피해 및 범죄두려움의 억제에 효과가 있는지를 검증한 것이다. 이를 위해서 대구지역에서 상점을 운용하는 소규모 상점의 상점주를 대상으로 하여 2008년 6월 10에서 6월 24일까지 약 2주간 조사원이 상점의 범죄피해 및 범죄두려움의 정도와 그에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 일상활동이론을 토대로 하여 조사하였다. 분석결과 상점주의 범죄피해억제에 영향을 미치는 요인은 개인적 노력인 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 상점주 스스로 보안을 철저히 하는 것, 그리고 이중 잠금장치나 방범창 등을 설치하여 범죄피해를 예방하고자 하는 노력이 있을수록 범죄피해를 억제할 수 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 그리고 상점주의 범죄두려움에 영향을 미치는 요인은 성별, 그리고 범죄자 근접성, 목표물 매력성, 개인적 노력인 것으로 조사되었다. 즉 여성의 경우 범죄에 취약하기 때문에 상대적으로 남성에 비하여 여성 상점주가 범죄두려움이 높았다. 또한 지역의 거리가 지저분하거나 불량청소년들이 배회하거나 유흥지역에 위치한 상점주의 경우 범죄두려움이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이러한 지역적 환경을 개선하는 것이 범죄두려움을 해소하는 한 방안인 것이다. 한편 매력성과 개인적 노력의 경우에는 범죄두려움과 정적관계를 나타냈는데, 상점에서 취급하는 물건 혹은 서비스의 대가로 현금이 주로 이용되는 상점과 쉽게 이동 가능하며 현금화할 수 있는 물건을 취급하는 상점의 상점주일수록 범죄두려움이 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 상점주 스스로 보안을 철저히 하는 경우에도 범죄두려움은 높은 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과 기계경비시스템 자체를 이용하는 것은 범죄피해나 범죄두려움의 억제에 영향을 미치지 않는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 이보다는 오히려 상점주 스스로 문단속을 철저히 하는 것, 이중방범장치나 방범창 등을 설치하는 것, 그리고 지역사회의 환경을 개선하는 노력이 범죄피해를 억제하고, 범죄두려움을 해소하는 방안이라는 것을 시사한다.

영문 초록

These days, there are so many store owners's use a electronic security system because of augmentation of security demand. This research is to verify that using a electronic security system has an effect to reduction of store owners' crime victimization and fear of crime. For this study, researcher investigated a store owners's crime victimization and fear of crime and factors based on routine activity theory. The sample is 262 owners who manage the small-scale store where Daegu city. The investigation duration is about two weeks, from 10 June 2008 to 24 June 2008. The results of analysis show that the major factor affecting the reduction of the store owners' crime victimization is to make an effort by oneself for preventing crime. For example, store owners do a security check oneself. And they establish duplication door locking system and crime prevention window. So These effort prevent the crime victimization. The factors affecting the store owners' fear of crime are sex, motivated offenders, suitable targets and individual efforts of preventing crime. In case of females, because they are weak in crime, the degree of females' fear of crime is higher than males'. The owners of store where the area of the store around is messy are feel high in fear of crime. And if they see that many juvenile delinquent and pub, night-club, noraebang and so on, they feel high in fear of crime. So to reduce fear of crime, it's necessary to improve an disorder environment. Suitable targets have an effect on the fear of crime. If the items of the store are normally small and easily transportable, including cash and small electronic devices, the owners of the store feel high in fear of crime. And in case the store owners make an effort by oneself for preventing crime, they feel high in fear of crime, too. This study show that if we restraint the crime victimization and fear of crime, electronic security system use is not sufficiently. So the store owners make an effort by oneself for preventing crime. For example, store owners do a security check oneself and establish duplication door locking system and crime prevention window. And for reducing the fear of crime, it's necessary to improve an disorder environment.
