사이버범죄에 있어 합리적 선택요소의 효과 검증

국문 초록

이 연구는 사이버범죄에 대한 합리적 선택모델의 검증을 시도한다. 따라서 사이버범죄에 대한 이득과 손실요소의 영향력을 다룬다. 주요 설명요인으로는 사이버범죄로 얻는 이득, 손실요소로서 처벌의 확실성 지각도, 부모와의 유대나 학업관여와 같은 비공식손실요소, 사이버윤리의식 등이다. 이 연구는 이들 요소들의 독립적인 영향력 이외에 이득과 손실요소간의 상호작용효과를 다룬다. 아울러 여기서는 개인성향으로 자기통제력의 영향력도 살펴본다. 567명의 서울시 남녀중학생을 조사대상으로 실시한 결과, 이득의 영향력과 또한 이득과 처벌지각도, 그리고 윤리의식간의 상호작용효과도 유의미하여 합리적 선택모델을 어느 정도 지지하였다. 이 결과에 대한 정책적 함의를 논한다.

영문 초록

This study intends to test a rational choice model of cyber crime. This study tests the effect of profit and cost factors on intention to cyber crime. Those factors includes the perceived profits from cyber crime, the perceived certainty of legal punishment, informal social costs(bonds with parents and commitment to scholastic activities), and moral ethics. This study tests not only their independent effects but also their interaction effects between the perceived profits from cyber crime and other cost factors. In addition, this study also considers the effect of self-control on cyber crime. Using data from 567 male and female middle school students, this study tests several hypotheses. Results show that the effect of the perceived profits on intention to cyber crime is significant and that their interaction effects with the perceived certainty of legal punishment and moral ethic are also significant, which a rational choice model is partially supported. That is, results imply that the perceived certainty of legal punishment or moral ethic can deter cyber crime even though the perceived profit is high. The policy implication of those results are discussed.
