국문 초록

2011년 12월 17일 김정일이 사망하자 장례 이후 로동당은 정치국 회의를 개최하여 그해 12월 30일에 김정은을 '조선인민군 최고사령관'으로 추대하였다. 이어서 2012년 4월 11일 김정은은 조선로동당 제1비서직에 오르고 이틀 후, 13일에 국방위원회 제1위원장에 추대됨으로써 국가 최고직책을 모두 차지하며 군대와 당을 장악하였다. 김정일 사망 이후 북한 당국은 매체를 총동원하여 '김정은 동지의 영도'를 부각하며 정치권력의 안정화를 위하여 15일 이내에 압축승계의 정치과정을 진행했다. 북한이 김일성-김정일-김정은으로 이어지는 권력승계에서 가장 강조한 것은 후계자론과 관련된 백두혈통 및 혁명전통의 계승론이었다. 이 글의 목적은 김정은이 만경대혁명학원을 현지지도한 내용을 분석하여 북한 당국이 김일성-김정일-김정은으로 이어지는 3대 권력세습의 정당성 구축을 위해 무엇을 어떻게 연결했는지를 살펴보는 것이다. 북한에서 현지지도는 김일성과 김정일의 통치수단으로써 북한만이 가지는 독특한 정치현상이자 후계체제의 안정을 보여주는 정치 행위이다. 그리고 김일성의 직접적인 발기로 창설된 만경대혁명학원은 수령의 혁명정신과 어버이와 같은 지도자의 모습이 담겨 있다. 이곳은 북한의 권력엘리트 그룹으로 진입하는 기초 단계이자 당과 최고 지도자를 옹위하고 지키는 충성스러운 권력층을 배출하는 곳이다. 김정일 총비서도 자신의 시대를 여는 시기에 해당하는 1997년 1월 1일에 만경대혁명학원을 현지지도하면서 김일성과 같은 북한의 지도자라는 이미지를 대내외적으로 부각했다. 2012년 1월 김정은도 만경대혁명학원을 현지지도하여 자신이 김일성-김정일과 같은 백두혈통이자 혁명전통을 계승한 북한의 새로운 지도자라는 모습을 만들어 내고 있다.

영문 초록

Right after Kim Jong-il died on December 17, 2011, the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) held a politburo meeting and selected Kim Jong-un as the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army on December 30, 2011. Kim Jong-un, then, became the first secretary of the WPK on April 11, 2012, and the first chairman of the National Defense Commission in just two days later, which means that he took full authority in the government, party, and army of North Korea. After that, North Korean authorities extensively propagandized the leadership of Kim Jong-un through media, and emphasized his 'Baekdu' lineage linked to Kim's family and revolutionary tradition. This paper specifically focuses on how North Korean authorities have used Kim Jong-un's field guidance to Mangyongdae Revolutionary School for legitimizing the third-generation political succession. In North Korea, field guidance has been one of important ruling methods both for Kim Il-song and Kim Jong-il, and Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, built by a direct order from Kim Il-sung, symbolizes his revolutionary spirit as well as his love for North Korean people. In this regard, visiting Mangyongdae Revolutionary School is an indispensable step for North Korean leaders. Kim Jong-il visited the school on the first day in 1997 right after three years' 'yuhun tongchi' (ruling in accordance with Kim Il-sung's guiding spirit) period ended. By visiting Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, Kim Jong-il showed himself to the public that he became the leader of North Korea, and Kim Jong-un also chose the school as his first field guidance to show that he is an heir of his predecessor, Kim Jong-il. The purpose of the visit, for sure, is to legitimize his political succession.
