사회과 평화학습의 단계별 구축과 실행

국문 초록

글로벌화, 정보화 등의 급격한 사회 변화로 우리는 심각한 갈등과 대립을 경험하고 있으며 그 무엇보다 학교교육에서 나타나는 비평화적 풍토는 바로 학교의 위기이자 교육의 위기라고 할 수 있다. 지금 시대에 필요한 교육은 평화에 대한 교육을 통하여 평화능력을 함양하는 일이다. 이것을 평화교육의 관점과 매우 연관이 있는 주지교과인 사회과에서 담당하고자 하였다. 우선 사회과에서의 평화학습을 평화유지, 평화만들기, 평화구축의 3단계로 구축하고 실행함으로써 학생들의 인식변화와 평화풍토 조성의 효과를 분석하였다. 그 결과 평화학습은 학생들의 평화개념을 소극적 평화에서 적극적 평화로 변화하게 하였고 갈등에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 하게 하였다. 또한 자신이 생활하고 있는 공간을 평화적으로 인식하게 하였고 평화적인 방법인 대화로 문제를 해결하게 하는 데 효과적이었다. 단계별 사회과 평화학습은 자기가 생활하는 공간에 평화에 대한 생각과 평화를 만드는 능력을 함양시키며 평화풍토를 조성하게 하였다.

영문 초록

we are experiencing serious conflicts, confrontation and drastic social changes in the age of globalization and informatization. Now the education required is to enhance the peace capability through peace education. The social studies have a very peace education perspective should take charge of this peace education. First of all, the peace learning was designed for the 3 steps including peace keeping, peace making, and peace building and then was executed. Thus, it was understood changing the peace recognition of the students and the effectiveness of the establishment of peace climate. According to the research findings, the social studies peace learning was effective in making the consciousness shift regarding the concept of peace, from passive peace into active peace. It enabled the students to make the change on positive consciousness on conflicts and to perceive their living space peacefully. In addition, it was effective in enabling them to solve their problems through dialogues. It was confirmed that the procedural construction in social studies peace learning fostered the capability of making peace and the thought on peace in one's own living space and to establish the peace climate.
