남녀노인의 스트레스와 대처행동, 적응감 연구

국문 초록

노인은 가족과의 일상생활, 또는 노년기라는 새로운 발달단계에서 여러가지 스트레스를 겪게 된다. 본 연구는 각종 사건에 따른 스트레스 인지수준과 대처행동 및 적응감의 관계를 규명하여 보다 바람직한 대처행동의 방향을 모색하고, 노인의 적응감 향상을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다. 또한 스트레스 인지수준과 대처행동 및 적응감 등에서 성별에 따른 차이를 검증하고자 한다. 서울시에 거주하며 1명 이상의 자녀를 둔 300명의 60세 이상 남녀노인을 대상으로 조사한 연구결과는 다음과 같다: 첫째, 남녀 노인은 상실감, 건강문제, 가족관계 등에서 스트레스를 높게 인지하고 있다. 둘째, 대처행동에서 남자노인은 문제의 재정립이나 수동적 회피를, 여자노인은 감정표출이나 신앙에 의지를 주로 사용하고 있으며, 여자노인이 남자노인보다 우울감을 더 많이 지각하고 있다. 셋째, 남녀노인 모두 가족관계와 경제문제의 스트레스가 높을수록 우울감이 높았으며, 문제의 재정립이나 신앙에 의지하는 대처행동이 효율적이고, 감정표출이나 수동적 회피는 비효율적인 대처행동이었다. 넷째, 대체로 가족관계 스트레스 인지수준이 낮고 문제의 재정립을 하는 노인의 적응감이 높았다.

영문 초록

The old experience various stress in daily life with his /her family or on the new development stage called the period of age. The purpose of this study is to estimate the recognition level for stress and to present desirable coping behaviors contributing to their well-being. This study also tries to investigate whether there exists any difference between male and female in the aspects of stress recognition level, the coping behavior and well-being. 300 people living in Seoul, whose ages are over 60, and who have at least one child were interviewed. The results of this study were as follows: First, old men and women recognize stress highly in the sense of loss, health problem, and family relationship etc. Second, in the aspect of coping behavior, old men use mainly problem solving behavior or passive avoidance, on the other hand, old women use emotionalism or dependence on religion. And old women perceive more gloominess than old men. Third, the coping behaviors such as problem solving behavior and dependence on religion help to improve their well-being. Forth, in general, it is high that the well-being of the old whose stress recognition level for family relationship is low and who use problem solving behavior.
