가출청소년의 효과적인 멘토링 지원방안에 대한 연구

국문 초록

급변하는 사회 속에서 자아 정체감이 확립되지 못한 우리의 청소년들은 청소년 비행, 학교폭력, 집단따돌림 등 여러 가지 혼란을 겪고 있다. 이러한 문제들 중 가출문제는 그 가출 행동 자체가 갖고 있는 문제의 심각성뿐만 아니라, 가출행위가 비행, 범죄와 직결되어 사회적 문제를 야기 할 수 있는 가능성을 내포하고 있기 때문에 그 심각성을 더하고 있다. 가출청소년 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 무조건 최우선으로 귀가 조치를 하는 것보다는 통제적이고, 단편적인 대응에서 벗어나 새롭게 가출청소년을 이해하고 그에 대한 대응책을 모색하는 것이 필요하다. 청소년 가출은 그 자체만으로도 심각한 문제일뿐 아니라 비행으로 연결하는 교각의 역할을 하며, 청소년 비행은 성인 범죄로 발전될 가능성이 높고 또한 성인이 되어서도 부적응, 알콜중독, 실직 등 정신건강상의 많은 문제를 야기시킬 가능성이 높다는 것이 보고된 바 있다. 청소기에 가출 문제를 지니게 되면 성숙하고 자주적인 인격체로서의 준비기간이 길어지게 되어 신체적 성장과 정서적, 사회적 발달의 불균형을 초래하게 된다. 더욱이 이들은 가정이나 사회적으로 정서적 문제를 가지기 쉽기 때문에 이로 인해 가출 및 가출부랑의 문제가 이차적인 학습과 길거리 생활을 통해 다면적이고 중첩적인 문제들로 심화되어 간다는 점을 고려한다면 이들 청소년들에게 정서적인 지지를 해야 하는 부모 대신 멘토링 지원방안을 통해 정서적인 안정을 도모하는 것이 필요하다. 따라서 가출 청소년을 위한 멘토링 지원방안을 모색하여 청소년들에게 정서적인 안정뿐만 아니라 긍정적인 변화를 가져온다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 가출청소년들에 대한 효과적인 멘토링 지원방안에 대해 살펴봄으로써 멘토링의 효과로는 우선 참가한 멘티의 자아개념 향상에 영향을 미치며, 이들의 행동을 변화시킨다는 것이다. 또한 멘티의 가정이나 학교 생활 태도가 향상되고, 멘토와의 긍정적인 관계는 교정적 경험으로 작용하며, 의사소통 능력을 증진시킬 수 있다. 멘티의 긍정적 효과와 더불어 멘토의 성장도 이루어진다. 또한 멘토는 멘티에게 다양한 지식과 정보를 제공하기 위해 멘티보다 먼저 획득하기 위해 노력한다. 멘티로부터 존경의 대상이 되며, 자부심을 갖게 된다. 이처럼 가출청소년들을 위한 멘토링 지원은 다양한 효과를 가지고 있다. 물론 재정적으로 부족한 것, 멘토와 멘티와의 만남이 지속적이지 못한 것, 멘토링에 대한 인식이 부족한 것, 멘토링에 대한 관리가 부족한 것 등 많은 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 가출청소년들의 문제점에 대한 인식의 확산과 홍보, 멘토 선생님 수의 증가, 정부 지원의 증가, 멘토링 관련 사업에 대한 인력보강, 행정부처와 대학교, 초, 중, 고등학교와의 원활한 연계를 통하여 해결할 수 있다.
