Determinants of Service Supply Chain Performance : Agent-based Modeling Approach to the Motion Picture Industry

국문 초록

기존의 영화산업 연구는 전통적인 연구방법론의 한계로 인하여 서비스 공급사슬의 동적특성을 반영하지 못하였다. 본 연구는 영화산업의 공급사슬내 참여자들간의 통합과 경쟁구조를 탐색적으로 접근하며 공급사슬의 동적특성을 반영하기 위하여 에이전트기반 모형을 주요 방법론으로 적용하였다. 영화산업내에서 가장 중요한 관람객과 극장을 에이전트로 선정하여 각 참여자의 의사결정 규칙에 근거하여 연구모형을 개발하였다. 관람객의 의사결정 과정은 이전확률과 다항로짓모형으로 구성하였다. 2000년도에 개봉한 영화의 시장점유율을 대상으로 카이제곱 검정을 수행한 결과 공급사슬 성과의 동적특성을 설명하기에 유의한 결과를 도출하였다. 또한 시장규모, 제품다양성, 영화성과 등 공급사슬내 주요 성과변수에 대하여 시나리오 분석을 통하여 향후 연구를 위한 명제를 도출하였다. 실무적인 관점에서는 개봉전 정보를 활용하여 영화의 성과를 예측하기 위한 기초연구로 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Researchers have emphasized the dynamic nature of the service supply chain of the motion picture industry but had difficulty studying the dynamics because traditional research methodologies were limited. This study explores interaction and competition among the supply chain participants and focuses on capturing the dynamics by using agent-based modeling. An agent-based model has been developed based on the decision-making rules of moviegoers and theaters. Transitional probabilities and a multinominal logit model have been applied to moviegoers' decision-making process. Results of the Chi-square test of market share among the movies released in 2000 show that the research model can explain supply chain dynamics. After validating the model, research propositions are suggested by conducting a scenario analysis in perspective of market size and product diversity, as well as theater performance. This research can be used to forecast the performance of a movie based on pre-release information.
