노인과 청소년의 자살생각 비교 연구

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 상이한 연령집단인 노인 집단과 청소년 집단의 자살생각을 비교하여 그 유사점과 차이점을 밝히고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 노인 221명과 청소년 221명에게 인구사회학적 변인과 스트레스 척도, 절망 척도, 우울 척도, 자살생각 척도로 구성된 설문지를 실시하여, 그 변인들의 특성과 집단 간의 경로를 비교분석하였다. 자료 분석에는 SPSS. WIN 15.0과 AMOS 7.0을 사용하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 노인 집단과 청소년 집단 모두에서 자살생각과 가장 상관이 높은 변인은 우울이었다. 둘째, 노인 집단과 청소년 집단 간에 유의미한 차이를 보인 변인은 절망, 스트레스, 자살생각이었다. 노인은 청소년보다 절망을 훨씬 많이 경험하고 있었고, 청소년은 노인 보다 스트레스를 더 많이 겪고 있으며 또한 자살생각도 더 많이 하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자살생각 경로에 집단 간에 차이가 있는가를 검증하기 위해 다집단 분석을 실시한 결과, 노인 집단과 청소년 집단 간의 자살생각 경로계수가 동일하지 않았다. 노인 집단과 청소년 집단에서 유의미한 차이가 있는 경로는 우울에서 자살생각으로 가는 경로와 스트레스에서 자살생각으로 가는 경로였으며, 이 두 경로 모두에서 청소년의 경로계수가 컸다. 즉, 청소년은 노인에 비해 스트레스를 받으면 절망이나 우울을 매개하지 않고도 쉽게 자살을 생각한다는 것이다. 넷째, 청소년의 자살이 충동적으로 단일요인에 의해 발생하는데 비해 노인의 자살은 주로 여러 요인들의 복합적인 과정을 통해 발생한다는 것이 입증되었다. 이 연구의 의의와 그 시사점을 논하고, 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to find the difference in suicidal ideation between the elderly and the adolescent suicidal ideation. The subjects were 221 the elderly over 65 years old and 221 high school students. Socio-demographic factors, Stress scale, Hopelessness scale, Depression scale and Suicidal ideation scale were employed. To Process the data, correlational analysis using SPSS. WIN 15.0, and the hypothetical model testing and the multi-group analysis using AMOS 7.0 were applied. The results were as follows: First, the suicidal ideation was strongly related to depression. The elderly experienced much more hopelessness than the adolescents while the adolescents experienced much more stress and suicidal ideation than the elderly. Second, Multi-group analysis revealed that there were different paths to suicidal ideation between the elderly and adolescents. The adolescent stress brought suicidal ideation without mediating depression or hopelessness. The finding of this study contributed to extend the understanding relationships of stress, hopelessness, and depression to suicidal ideation by comparing the elderly suicidal ideation with the adolescent suicidal ideation. Ultimately it contributed to prevent suicide of the elderly and the adolescents. Finally, the implication and limitations of this study were discussed, and suggestion for future studies were also presented.
