국문 초록

본 연구는 중년기 부부관계에서 애착과 결혼만족의 관계를 알아보기 위해 실시되었다. 서울과 수도권에 거주하는 40세 이상 65세 이하의 중년기 성인 239명(115쌍의 부부를 포함)을 대상으로 애착유형, 의사소통, 보살핌, 정서경험, 결혼만족에 관한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 안정 애착인 개인들이 불안정 애착들보다 자신과 배우자의 결혼 만족이 더 높았고, 더 건설적인 의사소통을 하였으며, 배우자를 보살필 의사가 더 높고, 보살핌에 대한 부담은 더 낮았다. 둘째, 남편과 아내가 모두 안정 애착인 경우가 안정 애착과 불안정 애착의 조합이나 불안정 애착과 불안정 애착의 조합보다 결혼만족이 더 높고, 의사소통이 더 건설적이며, 배우자 보살핌에 대해 더 긍정적이었으며, 보살핌에 대한 부담을 더 적게 느끼고 있었다. 셋째, 남성들은 여성들에 비해 결혼만족이 더 높고, 여성들은 남성들보다 보살핌에 대한 부담을 더 많이 느끼고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 애착은 의사소통, 보살핌, 정서경험을 매개로 하여 결혼만족에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The present study investigated the relationship between attachment style and marital satisfaction in middle-aged married couples who reside in the greater Seoul area. 239 middle-aged(40-65 years) persons(including 115 couples)were asked to answer the questionnaires on attachment style, communication, care-giving, emotional experience and marital satisfaction. The results were: (a) Individuals with secure attachment style showed higher marital satisfaction, more constructive communication, higher willingness to care, and lower care-giving burden than those with insecure attachment style. (b) Couples with secure-secure attachment style showed higher marital satisfaction, more constructive communication, higher willingness to care, and lower care-giving burden than either of those with secure-insecure or insecure-insecure attachment style. (c) Males reported higher marital satisfaction and lower care-giving burden than females. (d) Communication, care-giving and emotional experience served as mediators in the link between attachment and self-reported marital satisfaction.
