은퇴시기가 주관적 신체적, 정서적 건강에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 은퇴시기가 고령자의 주관적 신체적, 정서적 건강에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 분석하고 그 함의를 논의하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석 자료의 출처는 국민노후보장패널자료이며, 이 조사에 포함되어 있는 56-70세의 남성은퇴자 246명, 여성은퇴자 464명을 분석대상으로 삼았다. 본 연구의 이론체계는 은퇴시기와 주관적 건강의 함수관계를 설명하는 Calvo et al.(2013)의 이론에 기반을 두었다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연령은 남성의 주관적 정서건강에만 유의한 영향을 미쳤지만, 남성의 신체적 건강과 여성의 주관적 신체건강과 정서건강에 영향을 주지 않았다. 둘째, 남성의 경우 은퇴시기의 주요인인 은퇴연령이 주관적 신체건강에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미치고 은퇴연령제곱은 주관적 신체건강에 부적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤지만, 여성은 두 요인 다 그렇지 않았다. 셋째, 남여 모두 은퇴시기 요인이 정서 건강에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 따라서 남성 고령자의 주관적 신체건강에 대한 연구결과는 적정한 때에 은퇴하는 것이 건강성과에 좋은 영향을 미친다는 문화ㆍ제도적 함수관계를 지지하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 은퇴시기와 남성의 주관적 정서건강, 여성의 주관적 신체건강ㆍ정서건강은 은퇴시기가 건강에 영향을 미치지 못한다고 가정하는 생물ㆍ심리학적 함수관계를 보였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explores the effects of retirement timing on subjective physical and emotional health, and then discuss implications for the findings. Data from Korean Retirement and Income Study(KReIS) in 2009 were used in this study. From this dataset, 246 retired male elders and 464 retired female elders aged between 56 and 70 were selected for this study. The theoretical framework was based on Calvo's 4 hypotheses approach explain functional relationship between retirement timing and subjective health. The results of analysis are summarized as follows. First, age is statistically significantly associated negatively with only subjective emotional health of retired male elders but is not significantly associated with subjective physical health of retired male elders, subjective physical and emotional health of retired female elders. Second, for only male elder, retirement age as retirement timing factor is significantly associated positively with subjective physical health and retirement age squared is significantly associated negatively with subjective physical health, but for female elder, these factors are not associated significantly with subjective physical health. Third, retirement age and retirement age squared are not associated significantly with subjective emotional health in both male elder and female elder. Therefore, findings on subjective physical health of male elder support to cultural-institutional functional relationship suggesting that "on time" retirements produce the best outcomes. But findings on subjective emotional health of male elder, and subjective physical and emotional health of female elder support to bio-psychological functional relationship suggesting that retirement timing do not have an effect on health.
