국문 초록

본 연구에서는 유아의 적응에 관련된 아버지 변인을 밝히고자 아버지의 원가족 경험, 성격특성, 결혼만족도, 직장만족도가 아버지의 양육참여 및 유아의 적응에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 유치원에 다니는 아버지 327명을 대상으로 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아의 적응과 관련된 아버지 변인(아버지의 성격특성, 결혼만족도, 직장만족도, 아버지 양육참여)에서 아버지의 성격특성이 유아의 적응에 영향을 미치는 가장 중요한 변인으로 나타났다. 둘째, 아버지의 원가족 경험과 성격특성은 아버지의 결혼만족도에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤고, 아버지의 원가족 경험이 성격특성에 미치는 영향은 유의하지 않았다. 셋째, 아버지의 성격특성은 결혼만족도, 직장만족도와 양육참여에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 넷째, 아버지의 성격특성과 결혼만족도는 양육참여에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤고, 결혼만족도를 통해 유아의 적응에 간접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 그러나 아버지의 직장만족도가 양육참여에 미치는 영향은 유의하지 않았다. 다섯째, 아버지의 결혼만족도, 양육참여, 직장만족도는 유아의 적응에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 마지막으로 아버지의 성격특성은 유아의 적응과 관련된 가장 중요한 변인이며, 유아의 적응과 관련된 아버지 변인들은 서로 다른 경로를 통해 유아의 적응에 영향을 미친다는 것이 본 연구를 통해 밝혀졌다. 따라서 아버지의 성격특성을 고려하여 아버지의 양육참여 및 결혼만족도를 증가시키는 것이 필요함이 시사되었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect that father's experience in family of origin, personality characteristic, marital satisfaction, and work satisfaction have on father's participation in parenting and young children's adjustment. The subject of this study consisted of 327 fathers whose young children were attending kindergartens. The results of analysis were as follows; First, this study had a meaningful implication that father's personality characteristic was the most important determinant that was related to young children's adjustment. Secondly, it found that father's experience in family of origin, father's personality characteristic had a direct effect on young children's adjustment, but direct effect that father's experience in family of origin had on personality characteristic was not meaningful. Third, it showed that father's personality characteristic had a direct effect on marital satisfaction, work satisfaction, and participation in parenting. Fourth, it found that father's personality characteristic and marital satisfaction had a direct effect on participation in parenting, but direct effect that father's work satisfaction had on work satisfaction was not meaningful. Fifth, father's marital satisfaction, participation in parenting and work satisfaction appeared to have a direct effect on young children's adjustment. In conclusion, this study had a meaningful implication that father's personality characteristic was the most important determinant that was related to young children's adjustment, and father's experience in family of origin, personality characteristic, marital satisfaction, and work satisfaction, father's participation in parenting might influence young children's adjustment through many different kinds of paths.
