국문 초록

오늘날 우리는 세계화의 큰 파고에 직면해 있다. 세계화, 개방화로 인해 국가 간 인적 이동이 그 어느 때 보다 활발해지고 있다. 그 가운데 우리 고장 인천은 우리나라의 인적ㆍ물적 교류에 큰 역할을 담당해 온 역사성이 있는 도시로서 개화기에는 많은 외국인들이 인천항을 통해 우리나라에 첫 발을 내디뎠으며, 우리 국민이 첫 해외 이민을 떠난 관문도 다름아닌 바로 인천항이었다. 즉, 대한민국 이민사에 있어 큰 상징성을 지니고 있는 인천이 외국인 130만 이상의 시대를 맞은 21세기 한반도 성장을 이끌어 나갈 새로운 동력 창출의 도시로 부각되고 있으며, 세계 속의 역동적인 도시 중 하나가 된 것이다. 세계화가 진행되면서 서로 다른 문화를 가진 사람들이 만나 함께 살아가야 하는 것이 우리의 현실이다. 세계화 시대에는 학생들과 학부모들이 낯선 문화와 사고방식을 이해하고, 다른 사람들과 더불어 사는 법을 배우는 것이 매우 중요한 교육 과제이다. '유네스코 21세기 세계교육위원회'가 '함께 살기 위한 학습'을 21세기 교육의 핵심 과제로 제시할 만큼 다문화 세상에 대한 교육의 역할은 강조되고 있으며, 교육의 출발점인 초등학교에서부터의 교육은 무엇보다도 중요하다 할 수 있다. 하지만 문화적으로 다른 학생들이 성공하기 위해서는 다문화교육과 일반교육을 연계시켜 줄 수 있는 추가적인 연구가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다문화 중심학교에서 이루어진 우수사례를 통하여 성공요인을 제시하였으며, 이것을 통해 다문화교육이 활성화되는데 일조하리라 믿는다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is, by case studies of the management in multicultural school centers, to change the perceptions of conumm.ity members who have a variety of cultural backgrounds and provide the educational supports in order to fulfill a multicultural society in which people harmoniously coexist. Because a homogeneous Korean society has been rapidly transfonned into a multicultural one, it is profoundly important to better understand; 1) multicultural communities, 2) social integration of multi-cultural families, and 3) their children's school adjustment. Thus, lncheon Metropolitan city office of education attempts to operate, as the objective of promoting a global talent, a multicultural family-oriented school with a personalized assistance for those who come from multi-cultural family. In th.is study, critical factors for best practices of the management of multicultural school centers were analyzed. Even though some previous studies have intennittently focused on regional or school programs'best practices, however the roles, functions, or even minds of managers at multicultural school centers have been understudied. Therefore, in this study, we focus on; 1) needs for the school principal in order to understand the notion of multicultural society and family, 2) training and promotions of a better understanding of multicultural society and family, 3) 2009 amendments aimed at training the spirit of sharing and caring, and 4) h.ighlight changes and recognition for educations that build students' character, as well as creativity.
