국문 초록

본 모의실험 연구는 피험자 능력이 표준정규분포를 이루고 추측도가 없을 때에만 유효하다고 알려진 Lord 변환식을 추측도가 포함된 3모수 IRT 문항모수 추정에도 적용할 수 있는지 분석하였다. 이를 위해 실제 검사 자료의 3모수 IRT 문항모수를 바탕으로 표본 크기, 검사 길이 및 추정 방법의 모의실험 조건별 문항 응답 자료를 모의 생성하였고, 이들 자료에서 추정된 3모수 IRT 문항모수들의 평균, 상관, 편향 및 TCC 차이를 모집단 문항모수와 비교하여 살펴보았다. 분석 결과에 따르면, Lord 변환식에 의한 2PL과 3PL_fix 추정 방법은 실험 조건과 상관없이 a-모수와 b-모수를 과소 추정하였고 TCC 차이도 검사 길이가 길어지면서 커지는 경향을 보였으며, 이러한 경향은 3PL_fix에서 더 강하였다. 따라서 Lord 변환식으로 3모수 IRT 문항모수의 근사치나 초기치를 산출해야 하는 상황에서는 추측도를 0으로 두고 a-모수와 b-모수만 추정하는 것이 오차를 줄일 수 있는 방안으로 확인되었다. 이것은 ‘답지 개수의 역수’ 등을 모든 문항의 c-모수로 적용함으로 인해 c-모수가 정확하게 추정되지 못하면 a-모수와 b-모수 역시 부정확하게 추정될 가능성이 커진다는 사실을 의미한다.

영문 초록

This simulation study investigated whether it would be possible to estimate 3-parameter IRT’s item parameters by applying Lord’s transformation formula. This formula has been known to be tenable under the assumptions that the ability is normally distributed and there’s no guessing. Based upon the a-, b-, and c-parameters of real data, item response data sets were simulated according to the conditions of sample sizes, test lengths, and estimation methods. The means, correlations, biases, and test characteristic curves of a-, b-, and c-parameters estimated from simulated data sets were then compared with population item parameters. Results showed that 2PL and 3PL_fix methods tended to underestimate population’s a- and b-parameters and to include more squared bias as test length increased. The tendency of underestimation and increasing bias was more salient in 3PL_fix than in 2PL method which seemed to produce the approximated values or initial solutions with less errors. This would imply that the likelihood of incorrectly estimating a- and b-parameters might increase unless c-parameters were correctly estimated.
