플라톤의 실재관

국문 초록

실재, 이미지, 시뮬라크르, 동굴의 비유, 플라톤본 논문은 플라톤에 관한 기존의 연구가 크게 관심을 가지지 않았던 플라톤의 실재관에 대한 분석이다. 플라톤에게 있어 실재(to on)는 이데아의 모사물이며 판타스마, 현대적 용어로 표현해, 시뮬라크르(환영)의 모태라 할 수있다. 이런 관점에서 보면 플라톤에게 있어 실재(실재하는 것들)는 분명 이데아와 시뮬라크르‘사이에’존재하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 다시 말해, 지성에 의해 알 수 있는 것과 감각(감성)에 의해 알려지는 것의 중간 지점에 위치하는 것이 플라톤의 실재인 셈이다. 그리고 플라톤에게 있어 ‘철학함(philosopher)’이란 바로 이 실재의 발견으로부터 첫 디딤돌을 내딛기 시작한다. 그러나 주지하듯 플라톤의 철학에서 실재의 인식이 철학함의 최종 목표는 아니다. 이데아에 의한 반조(返照) 없이는 실재도 결국 자신의 존재 의미를 부여받을 수 없기 때문이다. 『국가』제7권에 묘사된 <동굴의 비유>에서 플라톤이 감각의 세계(즉 동굴 안의 세계에서 모사물이나 모사물의 모사물을 보는 것으로 만족하는)로부터 실재를 인식하는 단계를 거쳐 이데아에 이르기까지는 “혼의 전환 및 등정”이 필요로 하다고 이야기하고 있는 것도 이런 맥락에서 이해하면될 것이다. 요인즉, 이데아의 인식, 참된 앎(epistēmē)은 반드시 지성의 도움이 요청된다는 뜻이다. 플라톤에게 있어 진(眞), 선(善), 미(美)는 모두 같은 뿌리로 부터 탄생하는데, 그 공통 뿌리가 다름 아닌 이데아인 것이다. 이데아는 자연계에서 비유 가능한 것이 있다면 그것은 유일하게 태양이고, 바로 이 태양이“플라톤의‘이데아’”를 대변하고 있다. 이런 이유 때문에 플라톤에게 있어 소위 실재는 역설적이게도 있는바 그대로 자신의 이름과 이미지를 가질 수 없지 않느냐는 역설에 봉착하게 된다. 그리고 바로 이점이 감각의 영역과 지성의 영역에 공통으로 걸쳐 있는 실재가 플라톤의 체계 내에서 제 고유한 얼굴과 의미를 가질 수 없다는 자체 모순이기도 하다. 플라톤에게 있어 실재는 결국 이데아 없이는 불구에 다름 아닌 것이다. 이렇듯 플라톤의 철학 내에서 실재는 한편으로는 이데아로부터 그리고 다른 한편으로는 이미지 또는 이미지의 이미지, 즉 보드리야르 식으로 말해 시뮬라크르로부터의 공격으로부터 자신을 지켜내야 하는 이중의 과제를 안고 있는 셈이다. 이런 이유 때문에 우리는 플라톤의 사유체계 내에서 실재의 진정한 지위를 발견하기 어렵고, 설사 발견한다고 해도 그것은 어디까지나 부차적인 수준의 언급일 뿐인 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze Plato's realism that has not concerned widely by the former studies. On Plato, the Reality( to on) is the mimetic of the Idea and phantasma, in contemporary word, the matrix of the Simulacrum. In this view-point, the reality on Plato maybe existing between the Idea and the Simulacrum. In other words, the Plato's reality occupies between the "knowable things" by intelligence and the "be known things" by sensibility. And Plato's "philosopher" moves to next step by discover of the reality. However, known to everybody, the understanding of the reality is not a goal in Plato's philosophy. If the idea's light do not shines on the reality, it has no meaning of the Being itself. The Allegory of Plato's Cave, in volume 7, of The Republic, we can understand Plato's saying that the human being are needed the turning around and uplifting of the "psychē" that is the process from the world of sensibility(who is satisfied to see the mimetic or mimetic of mimetic in the world of cave) to the reality, and finally arrives the Idea. In other words, the understanding of the Idea, the "true knowledge( epistēmē)" must needs guidance of the intelligence. On Plato, the truth(眞), goodness(善), and beauty(美) are born from the same root, as so called the Idea. The sun is the only thing that implies the Plato's Idea in the our natural world. So, the Plato's reality has the paradox that has not its name and image. And that is the reality's irony in itself that has not the essential existence and the meaning in the Plato's philosophical system, because it has the range from the territory of sensibility to the territory of intelligence. On Plato, the reality, that is not implied Idea, is just a disabled. On the Plato's philosophy, the reality has dual charges on one hand the attack from the Idea, on the other hand the attack from the image or image of image. Then, we can hardly find the real status of the reality, though, we find it, it has simply the secondary meaning.
