국문 초록

영어교육에서 영어평가는 매우 중요한 위치를 차지함에도 불구하고, 다수의 경우, 그 준비, 제작, 분석의 과정에서 충분한 검토를 거치지 못하고 있다. 본 논문은 Community English Program이라는 실제 수업에 대한 관찰을 통하여 수업에 직접 사용되는 성취고사를 그 이론적 틀, 세부정의, 문항개발, 문항분석, 신뢰도 그리고 타당도 검사 등을 거쳐 시험의 제작, 사용, 분석의 전반과정을 단계별로 기술한다. 연구를 통해 비교적 체계적인 과정을 거쳐 만들어진 평가지의 시행과 분석을 진행을 진행하였으나, 매우 한정된 수의 연구참여자 및 평가문항 등의 문제점으로 본 연구에서 개발된 평가문항이 피평가자의 읽기 능력을 정확히 측정하였다고 보기에는 다소의 어려움이 있음을 발견했다. 이러한 과정을 통해 본 연구는 그 자세한 기술과 분석을 통해 실생활에 사용되는 평가문항 및 평가도구에 대한 보다 신중한 접근이 필요하다는 시사점을 제공해 준다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper was to find out whether the instruction of reading about the theme “Job” in a Community English Program class was effective and whether the students comprehended the material presented. The test was planned by reviewing the literature on the constructs of the areas that the researcher wished to measure; defining and operationalizing these constructs; writing test specifications for the entire test as well as item specifications; and analyzing the results from the test. Though the test administration, it was unable to determine to a large extent whether or not the test measured the reading ability of the test takers. This was partly because of the small sample size and the few number of test items. Although the test in the study was quite limited in displaying the test takers' reading ability, with the analysis of each step of test design, test usage, test analysis, etc., the study can be meaningful in that it provides the educators in the field of English education with some understandings of testing procedures and the analyses.
