국문 초록

본 연구는 학생활동경험의 하나인 학생회활동참여가 청소년의 영역별 자아개념 성장에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 수행되었다. 이러한 연구목적에 따라 한국교육개발원의 한국교육종단조사 1~6차년도 데이터를 사용하여 2005년부터 전국 150개 중학교의 6980명의 중학교 1학년 학생들이 고등학교 3학년이 될 때까지의 자아개념 성장에 학생회활동경험이 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 청소년 자아개념(사회, 가족, 신체, 학업 자아개념)성장에 학생회활동이 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 참여시점에 따라 네 집단(중학시절 참여, 고교시절 참여, 중고시절참여, 비참여)으로 나누어 비교하였고, 집단별 성장의 차이를 다층성장모형을 통해 살펴보았다. 그 결과 학생회활동은 가족자아개념과 학업자아개념의 성장에 긍정적인 역할을 하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of adolescents’experience of student-council activities on their self-concept, using the data from the first to sixth years taken from the Korea Education Longitudinal Study, undertaken by Korea Educational Development Institute. Students were divided into four groups(earlier-participating, later-participating, participating, non participating groups) according to whether they had experienced student-council activities. Multi-level analysis using the growth model was conducted to analyzed the effect of adolescents’ experience of student-council activities on their self-concept(social self-concept, family self-concept, physical self-concept, and academic self-concept). The result of this study showed that the self-concept of the participating group grew higher than that of non participating groups. Student-council activities positively affect adolescents’ family self-concept and academic self-concept. These results indicate adolescents’experience of school activities might positively affect growth of their self-concept. The implications and limitations were discussed.
