국문 초록

체코 프롤레타리아 시의 대표시인인 이르지 볼케르(Jiří Wolker)에 의해 발전된 사회 발라드와 한국 프롤레타리아 시의 대표시인인 임화(林和)에 의해 개척된 단편서사시는 모두 서사장르를 지향하고 있지만, 전통적인 서사시의 관점에서 본다면 행위와 플롯이 미약하다. 따라서 두 사람은 인물의 전형화와 상징에 더 많이 의존하게 되고 이는 다시 과도한 감상주의와 통속성의 문제를 불러온다. 그러나 이러한 과도한 감상주의와 통속성은 오히려 자신들의 프롤레타리아 시가 직면한 과잉된 이데올로기 시의 문제를 극복하고 일반 대중의 호응을 얻어낼 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 이는 또한 예술의 대중화라는 당면 문제에 대한 해결책의 실마리도 제공한다. 물론 두 시인 사이에는 차이점도 존재한다. 가령 볼케르의 사회 발라드가 인물들의 대화에 더 치중한다면 임화의 단편서사시는 담화에 더 치중하고, 볼케르의 사회 발라드가 발라드라는 장르의 특성을 살려 직접적인 대화 형식을 취한다면 임화의 단편서사시는 발신자가 자신의 생각을 발화하는 편지형식을 취한다는 점이 다르다. 그리고 임화의 단편서사시가 더 이데올로기 지향적인 점은 두 나라 문학의 역사적 환경의 차이에서 기인한다.

영문 초록

Although both social ballad developed by Jiří Wolker, the representative of Czech proletarian poetry and ‘short epic’ cultivated by Im Wha, the representative of Czech proletarian poetry are oriented toward the epic genre, they are weak in their action and plot compared to the classical epic poetry. So their social ballad and short epic relies more on the monumentality of the characters as well as the symbolization. However such monumentality and symbolization causes the sentimentalism and conventionalism of their works, which, on the other hand, provide with a key to solve the problem of their too much ideology oriented proletarian poetry and also to meet the demand of the popularization of art. The introduction of heroins and the combination of ideology with love in their works is connected with the popularization of art as well. There are differences between the Wolker’s social ballad and Im Wah’s short epic in the fact that Wolker’s ballad are more oriented to the dialogues among the characters whileas Im Wha’s short epic more to the discourses, and Wolker’s social ballad relies more on the direct dialogues whileas Im Wah’s short epic takes a epistolary style which has the addresser and the addressee. The fact that Im Wha’s short epic is more ideology oriented than Wolker’s is because of the different historical backgrounds of the two countries. Korean proletarian literature of the 1920-1930s has been literature of class consciousness as well as nationalist literature against the exploitation and oppression of the Japanese colonialism and imperialism. Jiří Wolker with his best ballads such as Ballad of the Unborn Child, Ballad of a Dream, Ballad of the Stoker’s Eyes included in his second collection of poetry The Difficult Hour (Těžká hodina; 1922) and Im Wha with his best short epics such as Sunee at the Crossroad, Our Elder brother and Fire pot, Under an Umbrella at the Yokohama Harbour (1929) have produced not only their best proletarian poetry but also one of the great works of the modern poetry of their national literatures, and thus they have much contributed to the development of their national literatures.
