다문화가족 자녀의 정체성 문제에 관한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 자녀의 정체성 문제에 대한 다문화가족 부모의 이해와 요구에 근거하여 다문화가족 자녀의 정체성 문제를 해결하기 위한 방안을 제시하는 것이다. 본 연구는 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 자료를 수집하였고, 근거 이론적 접근방법에 의해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 참여자는 광주⋅전남 지역에 거주하면서 어린이집이나 유치원, 초등학교에 다니는 자녀를 둔 21명의 다문화가족 어머니들로서 자녀의 역량 강화와 정부의 다각적인 지원을 통해 자녀의 정체성 문제가 해결되기를 희망하고 있었다. 연구 결과는 다문화가족 자녀의 정체성 문제를 해결하기 위해 부모의 자존감 회복이 우선적으로 이루어져야 하며, 부모가 직접 자녀에게 부모 나라의 언어와 문화를 가르칠 수 있는 능력을 길러야 함을 강조하고 있다. 기존의선행 연구들과 비교하여 다문화가족 자녀의 정체성 문제에 대한 긍정적이고 발전적인 전망을 제시하였다는 데 본 연구의 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to provide strategies to solve the problem of identity of the children of multicultural families based on the interests and needs of their parents. This study collected data through focus group interviews and analyzed data using grounded theory. Participants were twenty-one mothers of multicultural families in Jeollanam Province and Gwangju, and their children attended preschool, kindergarten, or elementary school. They hoped that the problem of their children's identity could be solved through the reinforcement of their children's abilities and the government's multilateral supports. The results of this study emphasized that the parents of multicultural families should recover a sense of self-esteem above everything else in order to solve the problem of their children's identity and should develop an ability to teach their children directly the culture and language of the parents’ country. Compared to previous research, this study presented a positive and expansive perspective on the problem of identity of the children of multicultural families.
