국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 사회적 기업이라는 일 세계의 새로운 흐름이 청년 진로개발에 어떤 시사점을 주는지 평생학습의 관점에서 검토하는 데에 있다. 이를 위해 사회적 경제와 사회적 기업의 개념을 최근의 청년 진로개발 논의의 흐름과 결합하여 고찰하고, 그 의미를 탐색하였다. 사회적 기업의 활동은 일에 대한 사회적 인정이 고용 노동 뿐 아니라 다채로운 활동을 포함하는 것으로 확장하고 있음을 보여준다. 또한 자기주도적 진로개발이 암묵적으로 함의하는 바, 개인 중심의 진로준비나 학습이 아니라, 다양한 공동체 경험과 자립의 실험이 이루어질 수 있도록 사회적 관계와 네트워크를 복원하면서 지역사회가 직면한 삶의 문제를 함께 해결해 가는 참여적 방식을 통해 이루어질 수 있다는 점을 인식시켜준다. 고용가능성을 높이기 위한 평생학습이라는 담론은 시장 경제라는 틀 속에서만 제한적으로 유효하며, 사회적 경제라는 새로운 흐름과 사회적 기업이라는 새로운 일터의 맥락에서는 삶의 지속가능성을 높이는 학습으로 확장되어야 한다.

영문 초록

This paper is an attempt to identify the implications of social enterprise to young adults’ career development in terms of lifelong learning. A social enterprise is any for-profit or non-profit organization that applies capitalistic strategies to achieving philanthropic goals. Most prior research on social enterprise focuses on the concept of it and showing the current condition of social enterprises. Yet, it has hardly sought to find the meaning of social enterprise related to lifelong learning. This paper discusses the implications of social enterprise in three aspects: the learning context, the main agents of learning activity, the ways of learning. Firstly, social enterprise generates a new way of working. It expands the concept of working beyond a paid work to various activities which is needed to human life. So, the learning context is changing from paid work in a company into various creative activities for better life. Secondly, the main agents of learning are not the individuals who compete each other in a labor market but communities which try to improve the life world. The term ‘self-directed career development’ assumes that the responsibility of employability is in each individual. But social enterprises try to increase social capital to enhance the community members’ life sustainability. Lastly, what social enterprise seeks to is ‘relation-oriented economy’ operated by reciprocality. In this economy, learning is not segmented into special fields but integrated into civil life. People learn through participation in civil life.
