다문화 학습동아리의 구조적 공백에서 신뢰와 결혼이주 구성원 브로커의 역할

국문 초록

학습동아리는 다문화 사회에서 새로운 구성원에 대한 적응을 지원할 수 있는 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 구조적 공백의 관점에서 다문화 학습동아리의 사회적 네트워크 유형과 현상을 실증적으로 분석하는 것을 연구목적으로 설정하였다. D시의 K학습동아리 구성원을 대상으로 사회적 네트워크 조사 및 면담조사를 실시하였고, 설문조사자료는 SPSS12.0과 UCINET6.0으로 분석하였다. 분석결과, 결혼이주 구성원은 1차 조사에서는 구조적 공백의 수준이 높고 네트워크의 외곽에 위치하였으나, 2차 조사에서는 네트워크 중심으로 진출하거나 구조적 공백을 해소하는 등의 모습이 나타났다. 일부 결혼이주 구성원의 경우에는 대변인 또는 컨설턴트의 역할을 수행하는 것으로 나타났다. 이런 과정에서 결혼이주 구성원이 다른 구성원에 대하여 인지적 신뢰와 정서적 신뢰를 구축하는 사례도 나타났다. 따라서 학습동아리는 결혼이주 구성원이 전통적 한국거주 구성원과의 신뢰, 네트워크를 구축하고, 한국 사회의 가치와 문화를 이해하고, 인종과 같은 사회적 범주 보다는 동일한 집단 구성원이라는 관점에서 개방적 태도를 형성하는데 기여할 것으로 해석하였다. 끝으로 분석결과를 토대로 결론과 연구의 한계점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Learning community may be one of methods that can support the adaptation and empowerment for new members in multi-cultural society. The purposes of this study was to investigate the social networks of multi-cultural learning community in the perspective of structural holes theory suggested by Burt(1992). Data collected from the members of Klearning community in southern Korea through networks surveys(1st survey and 2nd survey after 6 months later) and interviews(after 2nd survey). Quantitative data through survey were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 and UNICET 6.0. The analyses of quantitative data showed that followings: 1) The level of structural holes of multi-cultural members of K learning community was higher than traditional korean members. 2) Some of multi-cultural members changed their positions from structural holes(weak tie) to close networks(strong tie) and performed the roles like brokers. The analyses of qualitative data showed that followings: 1) The multi-cultural members developed cognition-based trust and affect-based trust with traditional Korean members. 2) These trusts were related with the changes of position in social networks. 3) Some of multi-cultural members performed the roles of brokers such as representative and consultant and which showed that the members of community didn’t divide members by social categories(such as species) and accepted or accommodated as a member of their community. Based on these results, suggestions and limitations of this research were discussed.
