영문 초록

The purpose of this research was to analyze the characteristics of the future housing planning concept proposed in 1960s. In the period, due to the progress of the science and the paradox of the modernism, the functionalism of modern housing architecture had to go through dramatic changes. Industrial development after overcoming destructive effects of the World War II and the beginning of space age had impacts on the future housing planning concept that such new experimental concept as 'industrial housing', 'space housing', ‘oceanic housing’ were proposed. It is discovered that the stage of social development has close links with the developing aspects of future housing concept. Major characteristics of the future housing concepts are classified as follows: 1) the concept of productivity and efficiency drawing from 'the industrialized housing' based on the technology, which explains the mass housing supply and housing type of new concept; and 2) the concept of expansion of housing space which enlarges the existing housing space into space, ocean, or underground in order to explore or travel the unknown world or for the purpose of coping with the overpopulation.
