영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the tasks and prospects of Kuwaiti economic development. To analyse performance and prospects of the Kuwaiti economic development, this paper consists of four chapters. Continuing from the introduction, in the second chapter, this paper investigates an outline of Kuwaiti Economy. It is a background analysis for Kuwaiti economic development. In the third chapter, this paper analyzes tasks and performance of Kuwaiti economic development. This chapter shows that the tasks of Kuwaiti economic development is composed of two scopes. One is aspects of macroeconomic management, the other is economic reform. First of all, this paper examines the aspects of economic reform of Kuwaiti economy. The major contents of economic reform in kuwaiti involve the reduction of price subsidies ; reshuffle of tax system ; promotion of privatization and foreign direct investment. This paper evaluates that despite affirmative evaluation for sound macroeconomic performance such as economic growth, economic reform has not revealed visible accomplishments, due to the failure of cutting back subsidies, poor progress of privatization process, retaining a variety of the barriers of trade and foreign investment. And for the conclusion, in order to establish the steady growth of Kuwaiti economy, it is thought that the privatization of public corporations, and the economic open-door policy must be accelerated. In particular, the privatization strategy for public enterprises that accelerates Industrial multilateral policies of Kuwaiti economy is one of the urgent problems. Privatization strategy plays an important role in improving the inefficient managerial structure of public enterprises and in activating private sectors. Finally this paper suggests that it is essential to carry out strongly economic reform suitable to market economy in order to accomplish the steady growth.
