명사구에 따른 상 변화 현상 고찰

국문 초록

이 논문에서는 동사구의 기본적인 어휘상이 변하는 데 관여하는 요인에 대하여 살펴보았다. 기존의 논의에서 동사의 상적인 특성은 동사의 어휘적 의미에 의해서 결정된다고 혹은 문장을 구성하는 다양한 통사적인 요소에 의해서 결정된다고 주장했으나, 그러한 요인이 구체적으로 무엇인지, 또 그러한 요인이 모든 동사구에서 동일하게 작용하는지에 대해서는 논의되지 않았다. 본 논문에서는 기본적인 어휘상이 변하는 데 관련되는 요인으로는 먼저 통사적인 것으로 ① 주어의 교체(복수화), ②목적어의 교체(복수화), ③ ‘-에’ 부가어의 첨가를 들었다. 그리고 의미적인 요인으로는 ① 복수명사의 해석, ② 무한정사 명사구의 해석, ③ 명사구의 일반화 및 고유명사화를 들어 논의하기로 한다. 어휘상에서 주어 교체로 달성동사구와 다른 동사는 대조적이며, 목적어 교체로 완수동사구와 다른 동사구는 대조적이다. 그리고 ‘- 에’ 부가어로 행위동사구와 다른 동사구는 대조된다. 또한 동일한 동사구라 하더라도 결합한 명사구의 해석이 다름으로 상적인 특성이 변한다. 달성동사구에서 명사구가 집합적으로 해석될 때와 분포적인 해석을 가질 때 동사구의 어휘상은 대조적이다. 그리고 완수동사구와 행위동사구에서 명사구가 고유명사구나 일반 명사구로 바뀔 때 동사구의 어휘상은 달라진다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors involved basic in aspectual change in verb phrases. In previous research it has been assumed that the aspectual features of verbs are determined by the lexical meaning of the verb or else by the various syntactic elements making up the sentence, but it remains to be discussed what precisely those elements are and whether they function uniformly across sentences. In this paper, we identify the following syntactic elements active in basic aspectual change: 1) subject substitution (pluralization), 2) object substitution (pluralization), 3) addition of noun phrase adjuncts in ey. And as semantic elements, we identify: 1) interpretation of plural noun phrases, 2) interpretation of bare noun phrases,and 3) generalization of noun phrases and proper noun formation. In lexical aspect, verb phrases expressing 'achievement' contrast with other verb phrases via subject substitution, while verb phrases expressing 'accomplishment' contrast with other verb phrases via object substitution. Verb phrases expressing 'action' contrast with others via noun phrase adjuncts in ey. Moreover, even one and the same verb phrase shows changes in aspectual character depending on the interpretation of noun phrases in the same verb phrase. Thus 'achievement' has a different aspectual meaning depending on the collective or distributive interpretation of noun phrases, while 'action' and 'accomplishment' change according to whether the noun phrase is a common noun or a proper noun.(Yonsei University).
