국문 초록

노예제도에 관한 교부들의 견해와 태도는 그리스도교적. 스토아적 평등사상부터 아리스토텔레스의 노예본성론에 이르기까지 폭넓게 나타나며， 그들이 제시하는 정보도 출신과 교육과정， 사회적 통찰에 따라 매우다양하다. 이는 카파도키아 교회의 대표적 신학자인 니사의 그레고리우스에게도 적용된다. 따라서 이 논문은 그레고리우스가 노예와 관련된 글을 통해 비자유인들을 어떻게 이해했는지 신학적， 성시적인간학적， 사목적， 개인적， 사회적. 법적으로 밝히고자한다. ‘신학적이해’에 관해서는， 모든 인간이 하느님 모상으로 창조되었다는 공동의 기원에 관련하여 그레고리우스가 인간의 평등성과 자유를 창조-타락-그리스도의 육화-신격화의 관점에서 신학적으로 심화하는지 고찰한다. ‘성서적. 인간학적 이해’에 관해서는， 하느님의 자연법을 거스르는 노예 매매의 부당성을 알리는 코헬렛 넷째 강해를 상세히분석한다. ‘사목적이해’에 관해서는， 주인에게 노예를 그리스도교 적 정신으로 대할 것을 권고하는 글， 노예를 많이 소유하는것과 그리스도인의 생환방식의 모순점， 주인과 노예의관계， 노예해방， 노예에게 요구되는 태도등을 디룬다. ‘개인적이해'에 관해서는， 노예들의 특성과 노예에대한 부정적평가，고귀하고 자유로운 계층 출신이라는 개인적 자긍심， 노예들에 대한 우월의식등을 검토하고자 한다. ‘사회적. 법적이해’에 관해서는， 그레고리우스가 개인적 체험에 근거해 기술하는 노예 도망이라는 사회적 현상과 법적 사회적 제도인 노예제도를 어떻게 이해하는지 살펴보았다.

영문 초록

The Church Fathers' opinions and attitudes toward slavery are shown in a wide spectrum of ideas - from the Christian and Stoic ideas of equality to Aristotle's theory, and the information they present is very diverse, depending on their birth and education, as well as social insight. This applies also to Gregory of Nyssa, the representative theologian of the Capaddocia church. The aim of this paper, therefore, is to elucidate, in terms of theological,biblical-anthropologic, pastoral, personal, and socio-Iegal understanding, how through the writings of slavery Gregory understands the non- freeman. For 'theological understanding,' the paper examines whether Gregory, with respect to the common origin of all men being created in God's image, deepen s theologically the concepts of man's equality and freedom from the viewpoint of the creation, fall, Christ's incarnation and deification. In regard to 'biblical- anthropologic understanding,' the paper does a detai led analysis on the "Fourth Homily on Kohelet(Ecclesiastes)" in which Gregory criticizes about the wrongfulness of slave trade that transgresses the law of God. For 'pastoral understanding,' the paper deals with the writings that advise masters to treat slaves according to the spirit of Christianity, with the contradiction between owning many slaves and the Christian way of life, with the relationship between the master and the slave, with the slave- freeing, with the behavior demanded of slaves, and with the upward social mobility of slaves. In regard to 'personal understanding,' the paper examines slave characteri stics and negative views of slaves, the master's personal pride of being from the noble and free class, sense of superiority toward slaves. For 'socio- Iegal understanding,' the paper examines how Gregory understands the social phenomenon of slave escape, described based on his personal experience, and the social- legal system of slavery.
