국문 초록

文彭은 명대의 서화가인 文徵明의 4男가운데 큰 아들이다. 당시 書· 畵에 일가를 이루었던 아버지 문징명의 영향을 받아 서 · 화에 뛰어났으며, 전각에 있어서 특히 유명하다. 문팽이 전각예술을 발전시킨 가장 큰 계기는 石印材의 발견으로부터 시작 되었다고 볼 수 있다. 전각에 있어서 석인재의 활용을 활성화하여 문인들이 自篆自刻하는 풍토를 조성한 일은 큰 업적으로 평가되고 있다. 이 점은 특히 장인들의 손에서 이루어지던 전각을 문인들의 품격을 담아내는 예술작품으로 승화시키는 계기와, 각 流派가 형성될 수 있는 발판을 마련하는 기점이 되었다. 문팽의 전각작품의 특징은 백문은 漢代를 모범으로 하고, 주문은 元代를 본받는 국면을 열어놓았다. 문팽은 전각계의 一代宗師로 추앙받았으며, 작품들은 金科玉律로 여겨졌다. 따라서 자연스럽게 백문은 漢代를 숭상하고, 주문은 元代를 모방하는 전각창작의 기본국면이 조성되게 하였다. 문팽의 예술 세계가 그 이후에 미친 영향은 매우 크다. 문팽은 秦· 漢印을 모범으로 하는 법고창신의 정신을 수용하여, 이후 전각가들에게 진 · 한인을 모범으로 공부할 수 있는 계기를 열어 주었다. 또한 문팽으로 인한 석인재 발견과 보급은 전각의 예술적 범주를 넓히는 분기점이 되었다. 이 밖에도 문팽은 詩文과 佳句를 刻印하여 邊款에 내용을 다양하게 사용하여, 전각예술의 가치를 한 차원 높였고, 변관도 하나의 심미의 대상이 될 수 있다는 인식의 전환에 크게 공헌하였다.

영문 초록

Mun, Paeng(文彭) was the eldest of Mun, Jing-myeong's(文徵明) four sons who was a calligrapher and painter of Myeong age(明代). He was influenced by his father Mun, Jing-myeong who had established his fame in the field of calligraphy and painting in those days. Mun, Paeng surpassed others in calligraphy and painting, and especially he was noted for the seal engraving. The great occasion that he could develop the art of seal engraving originated from the discovery of seal stones. People had the artisans engrave their seals in the past. But the use of stones in the seal engraving made the writers engrave their own seals by themselves. It became a trend. So, the writers sublimated the seal engraving to the art with their own dignity. The trend became the stepping-stone for the formation of many schools in the seal engraving, as well. It was the characteristic of Mun, Paeng's seal engraving that he modeled his intaglio after works of Han age, and his relievo after works of Won age. Mun, Paeng was respected as a great teacher of the day in the field of seal engraving. People stuck in his engraving method and were strongly attached to his works. Engravers accordingly followed his method, that is, engraving in intaglio of Han age and engraving in relief of Won age. It was large that the art world of Mun, Paeng influenced to people since then. He received the spirit of reviewing the old and creating the new which was modeled on the seals of Jin and Han. And also it became the turning point the engravers could learn the seals of Jin and Han. Moreover, the discovery and popularization of seal stones by Mun, Paeng was the divide extending the seal engraving area as an art. In addition, Mun, Paeng engraved the prose and poetry and even the beautiful verses, and wrote the various contents on the Inbo(印譜). He enhanced the value of art of seal engraving and he also made a great contribution to us that Byeonkwan(邊款) could be an object of esthetic appreciation.
