구비시가 전통과 구비서정시의 발전토대에 관한 연구

국문 초록

그것이 선천적인 것이든 혹은 후천적인 것이든 간에, 인간의 내밀한 정서를 본격적으로 다루고 있는 구비서정시의 본질적인 성격은 세계의 모든 민족들에 있어 공통적이다. 구비시가 가운데 구비 서정시 갈래는 민중들이 오래전부터 영위해온 삶의 방식이나 모습들과 깊은 관련을 맺고 있다. 예를 들면, 노동요는 민중들이 자신의 삶의 터전에서 직접 노동을 하면서 부르는 노래이며, 의례요는 종교적 형태가 완전히 갖추어지지 못했던 시기에 민중들이 자연물 전반에 대해 지니고 있었던 믿음의 체계에 기반을 두고 있는 행위예술이자 언어예술이다. 본고에서는 구 유고슬라비아 지역 구비서정 시가에 내포되어 있는 다양한 성격들을 뒷받침하는 요인들에 대해 살펴보았다. 더불어 기본적으로 구비서정시가 지니고 있는 특질과 보편적인 발전양상에 대해 살폈는데, 이는 세계의 거의 모든 민족들에게서 발견되는 구비서정시의 공통적 성격이다. 그러나 구비서정시가 발전할 수 있도록 만들어주는 토대는 모든 민족들에 있어 공통적이라고 단정할 수 없는데, 그러한 이유로 민족에 따라서 혹은 지역에 따라서 개별적인 양상을 살피는 작업이 뒤따라야만 한다. 지역이나 민족에 따른 그러한 개별적 발전양상은 구비시가 갈래 가운데 구비서사시에서 가장 극명하게 드러나는데,본고에서는 구 유고슬라비아 지역 구비서정시가 다른 민족들의 그것과 구별되도록 만드는 요인을 두 가지로 구분해 보았다. 첫째는 ‘자드루가’라고 불리는 집단협력체제이다. 고대로부터 이 지역 민중들의 삶은 이 집단체제를 중심으로 이루어졌는데, 오늘날까지도 그러한 삶의 방식이 유지되고 있어 구비문학적 전통의 계승이라는 측면에서 주목된다. 둘째는 이 지역 민중들이 처해있었던 ‘사회적·정치적·역사적 환경요인’이라는 특수성이다. 자드루가가 구비서정시에 보다 많은 영향을 미쳤다고 한다면, 후자는 구비서사시와 구비 서정시에 있어 공통적인 영향요소라고 할 수 있다. 기독교의 수용과 이민족에 의한 지배는 이 지역 구비서정시 발전에 적지 않은 영향을 미친 것으로 확인된다. 본고에서는 구 유고슬 라비아 지역으로 국한해서 구비서정시 갈래를 고찰하고 있지만, 이두 가지 요인들은 슬라브 민족 전체나 발칸반도 지역으로 연구의 범위를 확대할 필요성이 있다. 왜냐하면 여타의 슬라브 민족들이나 발칸반도 지역의 다른 민족들도 구 유고슬라비아 지역의 민족들과 함께 역사와 문화를 공유하고 있기 때문이다.

영문 초록

Oral poetry is not an odd or aberrant phenomenon in human culture, nor a fossilized survival from the far past, destined to wither away with increasing modernization. In fact, it is of common occurrence in human society, literate as well as non-literate. It is found all over the world, past and present. General and unequivocal statements are made about the style of ‘oral poetry’. It is often suggested that oral literature, not being written, is self-evidently the possession of non-literate peoples living in isolation from the centers of urban civilization, or differentiated in some radical way from modern civilized society. The essential nature of oral lyric poetry that includes seriously confidential emotions of human being is common for all nations of the world. Oral lyric poetry, in the general sense of a relatively short non-narrative poem that is sung, is of extremely wide occurrence; it can probably be regarded as universal in human culture. Among the oral poetry, a category of oral lyric poetry has close relations with conditions of living that the masses have for a long time ago managed until the present and with aspects of living of the general public. In the oral lyric poetry many emotions are involved. For some, like the traditional folklorist and earlier anthropologist, the topic is closely connected with ‘tradition’, with nationalist movements or with the faith in progress which expresses itself in the theory of social evolution. Many of the positions taken up implicitly link with scholarly controversies about the development of society, the nature of art and communication, or various models of human being. In this paper, as primary factors that discriminate the oral lyric poetry of Former Yugoslavia from the other nations, are presented two essential elements. First, it is a collective cooperative social and economic system ‘Zadruga’. And the second factor is social, political and historical circumstances with which former yugoslavian get faced. In detail, ‘conversion to christianity’ and ‘encroachment and domination of outside influence’.
