영문 초록

  This article examines the effects of major input variables for total valued added amount of the warehouse industry in Korea. Using a five year panel of data, this research estimate the effect of major warehouse input related data on total value added amount of the warehouse industry for period 1(1997-2001) and period 2(2002-2006). Major explanatory variables include operation cost for warehousing, number of warehouse, number of employee, average salary level of the employee, asset value of the warehouse etc. Two periods investigated in this research were compared, one of them related to a IMF period and the other to a post IMF preiod. Test results indicate that asset of warehouse is positively associated with a large and significant, though apparent at the second period only, increase in value added amount. Another primary finding was that while number of employee and salary level were relatively not important in the first period, they may increase the value added amount of the warehouse in the second period. This may happen due to the more use of warehouse space for labelling, semi-manufacturing, processing, sorting, and kitting, which requires more skilled employee and thus involves more salary and incentives.
