영문 초록

  The purpose of this research was to investigate the association between extra-curricular experience and multiple intelligences among young children. Subjects of this study consisted of 201 mothers with 4-5 years old children from kindergartens located in Ahn-yang city and Em-sung gun.
  The results were as follows:
  First, most mothers had their young children be involved in extra-curricula experience, that consists of language, thought and science, art, and physical education. They expected that extra-curricula experience improves learning ability of their children. Additionally, they put the greatest importance on language curriculum, and preferred thought and science to art and physical education.
  Second, there were significant differences in music, individual, and space intelligences among young children according to demographic variables. Girls presented higher scores in music and individual intelligences than boys, while boys showed higher score in space intelligence than girls. Children of mothers who are older than 35 years had higher scores in language, individual, and space intelligences compared to those whose mothers are younger than 35 years. All types of the intelligences were also higher in children whose mothers are with Bachelor degree than in those whose mothers are without high school certificate.
  Third, the scores of multiple intelligences tend to be higher when young children have experienced diverse types of extra-curricula experiences including language, thought and science, art, and physical education, and when they have learned them longer. Especially, experiences of language curriculum was positively associated with music, space, and individual intelligences.
