동해항 시멘트 물동량의 추정에 관한 연구

국문 초록

  본 연구는 우리나라 최대 시멘트 적출항인 동해항을 대상으로 Holt-Winter 지수평활모델과 박스젠킨스 방식의 예측능력을 비교 분석하였다. 주요 벌크화물중 하나인 동해항 시멘트 물량을 대상으로 in-sample 및 out-at-sample별 예측력을 비교했고 주요 측정치를 비교했다. 분석결과 예상과는 달리 3개의 분석기간 전체에 걸쳐 Holt-Winter 방식이 in-sample 기간은 물론 out-at-sample 기간에 까지 Box-Jenkins 방식에 결코 뒤지지 않는다는 결과가 도출됐다. 분석결과, 다소 복잡한 분석 기법이 당장 모든 기간에 걸쳐 정확한 예측 능력을 보여주는 것은 아니며, 보다 정밀한 예측을 위해서는 다양한 분석 대안 및 결과 비교가 반드시 필요함을 보여주고 있다. 또, 예측 모형이 단순하다고 해서 예측의 정확성까지 떨어진다고 단정하기는 어렵다는 점을 확인하게 했다.

영문 초록

  The important thing first done in the port development planning is the forecasting of cargo passing through the port. Forecasting errors also represent the biggest cause of the port operation problems and a beginning point of the problem solving. In many cases, these problems happen in the form of overestimating as port wants to expand their port facilities. This article examines the questions associated with the comparison of the forecasting method for cement cargo at the Port of Donghae. This paper identifies the forecast accuracy between Holt-Winter"s exponential smoothing and Box-Jenkins method. Tests by the ME, MAE and MSE demonstrate the accuracy of forecasts. It is concluded that, unlike our general expectations, the degree of forecasting accuracy of the Holt-Winter Method is found to be quite good.
  The results indicate that more complex forecasting method does not always guarantee the superior accuracy in traffic demand forecasting. In addition, an important thing of port demand forecasting is the careful comparison among various methods.
