비구어 지체장애 학생을 위한 국어과 교수-학습 지도의 실태 및 요구분석

국문 초록

  본 연구의 목적은 지체장애 학교에서의 국어 교과 내 영역별 교수-학습 전략의 사용 실태를 조사하고, 비구어 학생을 위한 국어과 교수전략 및 자료개발에 대한 요구, 비구어 지체장애 학생의 국어 교과지도에 대한 문제점, 효과적인 국어 교과지도를 위한 교사들의 제안과 요구를 파악하여 교수-학습 전략의 개발방향을 설정하고, 실제적인 자료를 개발하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 있다. 연구대상은 전국의 모든 지체장애 특수학교에서 국어 교과를 지도하는 유ㆍ초등부 담임교사와 중ㆍ고등학교 국어교사로 총 308명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 말로 의사표현하기 어려운 학생에게 효과적이고 대안적인 교수-학습전략을 제공하고, 대안적인 학습지도전략의 실행을 위한 체계적이고 구체적인 교사용 및 학생용 학습 자료가 개발되어야 하며, 또한 비구어 지체장애 학생에게 적절한 상정체계를 활용한 보완대체 의사소통 도구와 적절한 교수전략 및 방법의 개발이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 비구어 지체장애 학생을 위한 국어과 교수전략 및 학습자료 개발방향과 추후연구에 대한 제안점을 제시하였다. 한국 지체장애학교의 실정에 적합하고 현장 적용성을 높일 수 있도록, 국어과의 각 영역별 내용과 연계된 수준별 교수전략 및 학습자료를 개발하고 적용하는 연구가 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

  Students with severe physical and multiple disabilities are often behind in literacy skills and basic communication abilities. Despite the need for special instructional resources for these students, few has been developed for the nonverbal students with severe physical disabilities yet in Korea. The purpose of this study is to survey the current status of language arts instruction for these students and the instructional needs of the teachers in a national level. The procedures and results of this research are as follows.
  A survey tool was developed via in-depth literature review and multiple discussion/revision within the researchers and by 2 experienced teachers. Then national teacher survey was conducted to obtain information regarding current status and needs of language arts instruction for the target students in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Total of 308 teachers participated in this national survey from 21 special schools for the students with physical disabilities. Most of the respondents reported their difficulties in teaching language arts to their students with severe physical and multiple disabilities, especially in speaking area. Also various specific needs for practical instructional resources were reported. The most important implication of this study includes that the need for theoretical and practical instructional strategies and resources that may help with teachers who have nonverbal students with severe physical disabilities. We expect that this research can serve as a basis for further effort to develop specific instructional strategies and resources suited for the unique needs of students with severe physical and multiple disabilities.
