창의성의 공통된 특징으로서의 양극성

국문 초록

  창의성이 일반적 인지과정을 통해서 나오는 것인지, 아니면 예외적인 인지과정과 예외적인 인성특성이 자극되어 나오는 것인지에 관한 다양한 이론들을 살펴보고, 이들 이론들의 공통된 특징을 찾아보고자 한다. 우선, 창의성이 일반적인 인지과정을 거쳐서 새로운 결과물을 얻는 것으로 보아야 한다는 이론들은 창의성을 정서적으로 건강한 사람들의 일반적 사고활동의 하나로 보는 차원과 문제해결과정의 하나로 보는 차원의 설명이 있다. 다음으로 창의성을 예외적인 인지과정과 인성특성의 결과로 보는 이론들에는 천재와 광기, 일차과정사고와 이차과정 사고, 야누스적인 사고, 창의적인 사람들의 이중적인 성격특성에 주목하는 설명이 있다. 연구자는 이들 이론들을 살펴보고, 이들 이론들의 공통된 특징들을 통합하여 창의적 사고와 성격의 공통된 특징으로 양극성을 제안하고자 한다. 양극성이란 서로 반대되는 사고과정을 교대로 경험하거나 순환적으로 오고가는 역동적 과정을 말한다.

영문 초록

  The purposes of this study are to review the several theories about which the creativity comes from the ordinary thinking process or comes from the extraordinary thinking process and extraordinary personality, and to find the common characteristic of the theories about creativity.
  First, some of researchers see the creative thinking as one of the ordinary thinking process or the creative solution of the problem solving process.
  Second, other reseachers see creativity as the output through the extraordinary thinking and extraordinary personalities. Those views have relevance to the theory of genius and madness, the theory of primary process thinking and secondary process thinking, the theory of janusian thinking, and the theory of double personalities.
  Finally the polarity is suggested as the common characteristic of those theories. Polarity is defined as simultaneously operating different thinking processes or coming and going opposites of thinking processes.
