영재의 지능, 창의성, 자아개념간의 관계 분석

국문 초록

  본 연구에서는 영재판별과정에서 나타난 영재들의 지능, 창의성, 자아개념을 분석하고 각 변인간의 관계를 살펴보기 위하여 SIGT 영재교육연구원에서 영재판별검사를 실시한 276명의 유/아동 영재들을 대상으로 그들의 검사결과를 분석하였다. 지능, 창의성, 자아개념의 하위변인들 간의 상관관계를 살펴본 결과에 의하면, 연령과 자아개념의 각 하위요인 및 지능은 창의성과 밀접한 상관관계가 있으며, 특히 언어성 지능은 창의적 능력, 창의적 성격 및 통합창의성 모두와 유의미한 상관관계를 보였으며, 동작성 지능은 창의적 능력과 통합창의성과는 유의미한 상관이 있었으나 창의적 성격과의 상관관계는 나타나지 않았다.
  그런데 지능과 자아개념 간에는 유의미한 상관관계가 나타나지 않았으나 창의성과는 수학적 자아개념, 신체적 자아개념 그리고 친구 자아개념에서 유의미한 상관관계를 발견할 수 있었다. 한편 영재프로그램에의 참여 여부에 따라 지능과 언어창의성을 제외한 창의성에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 그러나 자아개념 검사결과에서는 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구에서 영재판별과 교육에 있어서 지능과 창의성 등의 인지적 특성과 함께 자아개념과 같은 정의적 특성이 함께 고려되어야 한다는 관점을 주장하지만, 결과에 의하면 지능과 창의성은 높은 상관이 나타났으나, 정의적 영역인 자아개념과는 모든 하위요인들과 의미미한 상관이 나타나지는 않았다.

영문 초록

  The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between intelligence, creativity and self-concept of gifted children in Korea. We first investigated the relationship between intelligence, creativity and self-concept to test the so-called "threshold hypothesis". We found a relation between intelligence, creativity and self-concept. In this exploratory study, Integrated Creativity Test(Lee, 2005), Intelligence tests (K-WPPSI and WISC) and Self-concept test(Lee & Koh, 2004)with identified validity and reliability were taken by 276 participants who consisted of preschoolers and elementary school children who were tested at SIGT for identification of giftedness. Results indicated that the relations between intelligence, creativity and self-concept in Korean children were significant statistically. In addition, there was a meaningful relationship with language intelligence. Even though there was not a significant relationship with intelligence and self-concept, We found a significant relationship between creativity and self-concept in the areas of math, physical and friend. In other terms of this study, there are significant differences between the groups that were divided into one group who participated in the gifted program and another group who didn"t. In the future, we need to consider diverse characteristics for identification of giftedness and proper educational treatment and guidance for gifted education.
