평생교육기관에서의 학습성과에 대한 질적 분석

국문 초록

  지금까지 기관의 성과 연구에서 학습은 현실맥락과 동떨어진 것으로 설정되었고, 학습성과는 성적이나 취업률 등 가시적이고 측정가능한 데이터로 환원되어왔다. 평생교육기관 역시 학습자 수료율 등 가시적 성과를 중심으로 평가되어 왔고 이는 학습자의 학습과정에서의 소외로 이어졌다. 이에 반해, 학습성과에 대한 학습자 중심적 시각은 학습주체 및 학습과정의 중요성을 부상시킬 수 있는 단서를 제공한다. 학습자가 학습의 결과를 어떻게 인식하고 있는지, 학습자의 생활맥락에서 교육체험이 어떻게 해석될 수 있는지를 밝힐 수 있는 질적 연구는, 이런 학습자 중심적 학습성과평가를 가능하게 하는 방법이다. 이 연구는 구체적인 삶의 맥락을 고려한 학습자의 변화상 속에서 학습성과를 추출하는 방법을 통해, 생애사적-맥락적 차원에서 평생학습의 성과를 조망하고, 학습성과의 사회적 함의를 추출하고 있다. ‘내부자의 시선’으로 분석함으로써, 학습성과는 개인/사회적 성과라는 이분법적 조망을 넘어 평생학습의 존재론적 의미규명으로 나아간다.

영문 초록

  Current educational researches on the analysis of the benefits of learning regard benefits as visible and countable phenomena. Most of researches have taken quantitative approach to discover the efficiency and effectiveness of educational institutes. It is common sense that examination is the most important and representative outcome for learners. Recently, this orientation is challenged by the lifelong learning researches whose approaches are based on qualitative approaches and focused on the ordinary benefits of adult learning.
  This study tries to reveal the dynamics of learning benefits in ordinary life through the methodology of ethnography. In concrete, this study explains what and how adult learners recover from their partly damaged self-image and have a confidence in the process of everyday learning. For example, learners could escape from the trauma of losing Bachelor"s degree after they have a chance to study in a lifelong learning center. Their concerns move away from the institutionalized justification to the self-regulated principle which involves value of the community. Through the analysis of learners" life history with contexts, this study clarifies the processes and social implications of lifelong learning.
