원격ㆍ성인학습자를 위한 멘토링 프로그램 요구분석과 모형 개발

국문 초록

  성인학습자들이 학업을 수행해나가는 과정에는 여러 가지 어려움이 존재한다. 더욱이 원격으로 학습하는 경우에는 매체를 통해 혼자 학습을 해나가므로 어려움이 가중되어 중도탈락하는 경우가 많다. 그러므로 이러한 원격ㆍ성인학습자들에게는 학습이 이루어지는 상황과 학습자의 개별적인 특성을 고려한 학습 지원 제도가 필요하다. 이와 관련하여 멘토링은 원격교육 시스템에서 부족하기 쉬운 인격적인 상호작용을 통해 학습자의 고립감을 해소하고 학습에 필요한 정보 뿐아니라 의미 있는 역할 모델을 제공해줄 수 있는 학습 지원 활동으로 볼 수 있다. 또한 멘토ㆍ멘티 모두의 인격적인 성장과 공동체적인 성장을 촉진할 수 있는 학습 지원 활동으로 여겨지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 원격ㆍ성인학습자들에게 적합한 멘토링 모형을 설계하기 위하여 원격대학에 재학 중인 성인학습자들을 대상으로 멘토링 프로그램에 대한 요구 분석을 실시하였다. 멘토링 요구분석 결과, 원격ㆍ성인학습자들을 위한 멘토링은 본격적인 학업이 이루어지기 직전부터 이루어져야 하며, 내용적으로는 원격학습시스템 적응, 학습방법 안내, 정서적인 지지에 초점을 둘 필요가 있으며 온라인 방식과 면대면 방식을 통합한 방식으로 이루어질 필요가 있음을 밝혔다. 이러한 모형에 기초하여 멘토링 프로그램을 효과적으로 운영하기 위한 멘토-멘티의 매칭, 멘토에 대한 인정과 보상, 멘토링 촉진 전략 등을 함께 제언하였다.

영문 초록

  Mentoring is an interactive process of guided learning based on the premise that the participants will have frequent contact and sufficient interactive time together. Mentor is a wise and trusted counselor or experienced guide. His role has been defined as six functions: relationship emphasis, information emphasis, facilitative focus, confront focus, role model and mentee vision. Mentors contribute their knowledge, experience and know-how to assist mentee and make a close relationship so that mentee can meet mentor and receive guidances when he needs. So it can be a good method to assist adult learners" achievement especially in the distance education. However it has not been introduced for an adult learner supporting system yet partly because adult learning is based on the principle of self-directed learning. and partly because there were few researches and models.
  So this paper analysed needs of adult learners in distance education and developed mentoring model for actualizing mentoring programme through survey and interview.
  As the results of it, we found that most of adult learners really wanted to have a mentor and needed guidances and helps when they lose their ways or meet hardships. Especially adult learners who study in the distance education institution have even more difficulties than young students in traditional university not only because they have many roles in their life but also they don"t know how to use a computer. In this situation, mentoring can offer adult learners opportunities to continue their studies for academic and career development. Moreover it gives aesthetic satisfaction, and self-confidence. So we suggested the mentoring programme as an efficient learner supporting method and introduced a model and various strategy of it.
