This paper aims to contribute to the understanding of the phenomenon of the concentration of women workers in particular occupations and the factors of wage differentiation between sexes in the labor market of manufacturing industry. For this purpose, case study was conducted using the methods of participatory observation and interviews in a workshop of a small enterprise in the city of Taegu. The results of the study can be summarized as follows: First, women's labor is defined as unskilled, owing to two factors: One is that labor has been customarily divided into two categories, "skilled" and "unskilled", and the other is the capital employs and allots the labor force on the basis of different sets of assumptions(sexist bias) toward male and female labors. Second, the women laborers who have working knowledge which is equivalent to the skilled one are considered as having merely a feminine quality under the highly male-centered evaluation system. Furthermore, these women's work is defined as an unskilled one. Third, those women who have the quality of control according to their knowledge of work are not equally treated in posting. Under the customary social relations of male domination these women's power of control is necessarily restricted and reduced. Fourth, the women workers' working knowledge, their actual power and the situation of the labor market(the lack of manufacturing labor force) can increase the potential of women laborers to protest against the capital and give them a better bargaining power. However, the afore-mentioned factors from the first to the third and. in addition, the ideology of sexual division of labor in the family prevent women from activating their bargaining power.
