국문 초록

본 연구는 부산지역혁신조사 자료를 이용하여 부산지역 기업의 기술혁신 결정요인에 대해 살펴보았다. 신제품혁신, 제품개선, 공정혁신을 종속변수로 사용하였고, 기업연령, 종업원 수의 기업규모, 기업규모이차항, 벤처기업 등의 기업특성변수와 산학연 기술협력변수를 설명변수로 이용하였다. 결과를 보면, 기업규모와 벤처기업더미는 신제품혁신 및 제품개선에는 정의 유의적 관계가, 공정혁신에는 비유의적 관계가 나타났다. 반면에 기업연령의 경우 공정혁신과 제품개선에는 정의 유의성을, 제품개선에는 비유의성을 보였다. 따라서, 동일한 기업특성이라도 기술혁신의 형태에 따라 다른 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 보여준다. 또한, 기술협력변수는 모든 혁신에서 정의 관계를 나타내지만 혁신형태에 따라 협력기관의 중요성이 달라질 수 있음을 보여준다.

영문 초록

This paper empirically investigates the innovation determinants of firms operating in Busan region. Korea. using a unique data set of the "B1S 2003". Busan Innovation Survey. designed in consent with OECD's Oslo manual. Three types of innovation. i.e., product innovation. incremental product improvement. and process innovation are taken as dependent variables. The explanatory variables are firm age. firm size defined in terms of number of employees. quadratic term of firm size. venture-firm dummy as firm characteristics. and finally the dummy variables of cooperation over technology with 8 organization types including industries. universities. and public research institutes as partners for innovation. The empirical findings show that cooperation over technology has a significant positive relationship with all types of innovation. however. firm size and venture-firm dummy have significant positive signs for the case of product innovation and product improvement. while the relationship with process innovation is shown as insignificant. Firm age brings out different results by types of innovation as well. That is to say. it has positive effects on probability of process innovation and product improvement while it turns out to be insignificantly related to product innovation. The findings imply that a specific firm characteristic may have different impacts according to the types of innovation.
