국문 초록

이 연구는 영동지역 유아교육기관의 성교육 실태를 설문 조사한 것이다. 조사대상은 영동지역 유치원과 어린이집 및 놀이방 교사 404명이었다. 교사들은 유아들의 올바른 성지식의 습득과 생활지도 면에서 유아 성교육의 필요성에는 모두 공감하면서도 TV나 서적을 통해 입수한 제한된 정보를 이용하여 과반수가 소극적으로 실시하고 있으며, 특히 어린이집이나 놀이방에 근무하거나 나이가 많은 교사들이 지도에 소극적인 경향을 보였다. 성교육은 주로 도서, 그림이나 사진, 비디오나 슬라이드를 활용하여 동극이나 역할극 또는 대화의 형태로 이루어지고 있으며, 그 효과에 대해서는 많은 교사들이 의문을 표시하였고, 특히 젊은 교사들의 평가가 부정적이었다. 그리고 대부분의 교사들은 관련된 연수를 받지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 유아 성교육의 문제점으로는 자료와 교사 자신의 준비 부족이 지적되었으며, 그 대책으로 연수와 다양한 자료 개발 등이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

This research was to examine current status of sex education at early childhood education centers in the northern part of Youngdong area. Four hundred and four teachers at education centers responded to the questionnaire which contained educational contents, methods and facilities. χ² test was employed to analyze the results. Major findings were as follows. All the teachers agreed on the necessity of sex education, but 37.9% of them suggested that it would be desirable to teach them corresponding to their developmental stage. 47.8% of teachers believed that sex education for infants would be appropriate to be taken at the age of 4 to 5, and 57.5% preferred to perform the education with teachers and parents. 41.3% of teachers said that children showed curiosity about the birth process of baby and sex differences. Contents of sex education were sex differences(33.4%) and prevention of abduction and sexual abuse(29.0%). Only 15.8% actively involved in the sex education for infants, 46.0% acquired information for the education from video and television programs, 33.4% did from various publications, and 7.2% did from training programs. Many teachers(40.6%) favored the present sex education performed at early childhood educational facilities. For teaching methods for sex education, 34.2% of teachers used publications, 32.9% did pictures and drawings. 41.1% of teachers recognized a lack of educational materials and facilities, and 43.8% of them suggested possible solutions such as development of various training program and materials.
