영문 초록

This paper reviews Chomsky's (1998, 1999) observations with respect to the defective intervention constraints (DIC) and some alternatives proposed to revise or eliminate the DIC. The major content of current discussion is that the DIC is not necessary in the formulation of locality conditions on syntactic operations, and that the problems and inadequacies of the proposed analyses can be overcome given the OCC approach to the EPP-driven movement and the assumption that a probe must be a subset of a goal as suggested in Atkinson (2000).
